I have a friend with 2 called Caos & Shambles and they are terrific dogs. I've only known one Flatcoat with a really horrible temperament (Dog aggressive), I've encountered a few nasty Goldens over the years one which was all working bred.
oh yes yes yes but then I am biased having had ine and wanting another but no room or money just now. My sisiterin law has goldies and my flattie and her 2 get on wonderfully and as you say a nice looking pairing
If you don't mind lively I'd have thought there are quite a few breeds with working ancestry that fit the bill - of course they'll all need that much more input from you. We've got a Belgian Shepherd and she's lovely but I wouldn't push anyone towards them as they aren't a low maintenance breed - not that any dog is but you know what I mean.
I am getting there. Will be going along to watch a shoot with a picker up for the first time on Saturday- think I am getting the retriever bug and would love to get involved. I know some people that train gundogs with decades of experience and currently they are steering me to a golden from working lines. I don't like labradors-don't know why, not their fault! They seem to think FCR need a more experienced handler than myself to get the most out of them.
Seems rather a long way from the beagle idea but I am getting the picture of what I want!!!!
i got 3 fcr here and one when on he first shoot last week they live two spanish waters. i had a lab and i wouldnt get another after have fcr,
fcr need one more handling and training than an other dog ,you can not be hard on fcr, firm and fair is the way with a fcr as they are the peter pan dogs.
