Topic Dog Boards / General / Training classes in Bristol
- By moo [gb] Date 19.11.02 13:15 UTC
Hello, I have been taking my now 20 week old Border Terrier to a local class but have recently been feeling as though the methods used are not for us. The class is also huge, with lots of older dogs which is really distracting. Does anyone know of any classes in the Bristol area that would be suitable for a 20 week old pup to basically start from scratch.

thks

Ohhh yes please. Would she be too old though at 20 weeks? Are they all little tiny pups? What night is it on?

thanks very much!

Wellour puppy is 9 weeks, but all the rest are a lot older!! And she wendy is brilliant positive learning!!! We have thoroughly enjoyed it so far and there is a lot of terriers in the group the phone number is 01225 314491 the lady you need to speak to is called carol. and it is Bath Dog training club! There are alot of people in our group from bristol at the moment so they must be popular!!!! We are the only ones in our group that are actually from Bath!!!!
Maybe see you there let me know how you got on!!! email me !!!!
Just to give you some idea our bullmastiff puppy is 9 weeks and can already sit, lay down, come on command, and leave it and walk to heel!!!
good luck pinky

I help out at Pet obedience class on the borders of fishponds/kingswood/Speedwell in Bristol, if that is easier. It is on a Monday night, at 7:30pm for the first class.

Thanks Pinky and Brainless. Bristol would be easier (Brainless I have emailed you), but will keep the Bath club details to hand incase the Bristol one is full.

thank you both for your help. Pinky, your pup sounds like a clever-clogs!

I live in Bristol too, and would be interested in joining a class soon! Should we wait until our pup is fully vaccinated tho? My lad is due to have his 1st shots this sat.(he'll then be 8 weeks), though he's had the puppy parvo at 4 weeks. Also, how much does it cost, and is it near a bus stop? 45 maybe?
Thanx bunches!

the advice of my vet was to wait one full week after 2nd vacc.

It is close to a Bus Stop on the number 6 route!

It is held at Grove Hall on Charlton road Kingswood(junction of Lodge Causeway/ThicketAv/Lodge Road/Charlton road) the stop is the first one in Thicket Ave, hust round the corner out of Lodge Causeway. Monday night at 7:30pm. Cost £1.50 training, plus one off joining fee. The pup would have to be fully vacinated.

Cool, thanx moo & Brainless!

As soon as his jabs are done, I'll head on up there! Do you know how long the classes will be continuing for (As I'll have 2 wait 2 weeks now)? And is that £1.50 per class? As in a 'drop in fee'? Plus the joining fee (which is how much?)? Just curious. :)
- By Brainless [gb] Date 28.11.02 15:32 UTC
It is £1.50 per class, and the joining fee is once only (not annual). I can't remember how much, but under £5 I am sure.

Its a brilliant group!!! I took my rotty babe there and my Shiba and they both loved it, only reason I don't go now is that we've moved and it's too far :(
Barbara, give my regards to Sue, I was meaning to pop in before we left but things got a bit hectic and I couldn't make it, Thanks

Any chance you could get back for the Christmas party. It is Free with bring your own grub. We have a big raggle, and proceeds go to buying dog food for the dogs home which we take up after christmas!

It will be on 16th December. Dogs games part of the fun, and well behaved Spouses and kids welcome!! :D

Hi,

Couldn't help but notice this subject and thought I'd ask a question too. I live in the Severn Beach/Pilning area and am looking for puppy training classes for my new pup. I would prefer in the same area if anyone knows of any???

Thanks

Jasperooni
