I have all the stuff from Idexx now, but a local vet also does inhouse testing. A remember a vet nurse friend telling me they wouldn't bother with the in house tests. Does anyone have any experience of these and are they reliable?
Hi, yes we always use the vets in-house premate tests and have found them to be very reliable over the years, depends if your vet can read them accurately i suppose, idexx is used by many many breeders and most swear by them, good luck with your litter
Hi Jen I used the premate for my girl. It's our first litter so I have no experience of idexx but we got her tested around 9 days as I already guessed from previous season that shed be ready around 10-12 days. Vets rang that day and said she should be mated in 2 days then 48 hours after that. I did exactly that and we're now expecting around 9 puppies in 19 days!!! :-) Good luck.
Hi I have used the ovulation test at my vets for years and find them really good. I have also recently used Idexx only because they can give a bigger forcast so you can make your plans earlier and you dont have to test every 2 days like you do at the vets. Both have been very good. In 15 years I think only 1 of my bitches has missed and she never went on to have pups again, so I dont beleive the blood test was to blame.
