Topic Other Boards / Foo / Comfy Shoes?
- By Freewayz [gb] Date 12.10.09 16:46 UTC
After being in wellie boots at work my feet are pounding and sore. After the cleaning is done I do put my trainers on but feet are still sore. I have then to go to training class (ring craft and obedience) and by the time I get there I don't feel like running.

I would like some suggestions of really good comfy shoes which have a very padded sole and possibly nice and springy for when I go to class. Something that wouldn't cost a fortune as I can be quite hard on shoes.

Thanks
:-)
Cheers

Depends what you want to spend. Some really good 'off road' running shoes would be ideal. I don't run outside now but I still wear Saucony approach shoes just for long walks etc. Very light and with a really good thick but flexible sole.

They seem to change the design every year so you can usually pick up older stock from decent sports shops fairly cheaply. Might be worth going into a proper running shop and trying some..........then checking out ebay !.

Try wearing 'orthaheel' inserts.
We in our family are all sold on them.
Husband swears they have reduced the incicidence of his back problems, one son and daughter both wear them too.
They ease aching feet and everyone else I know of who use them says the same.
At the weekend I treated my self to a new pair to go with some cheap ballet pump type shoes from new look and cant say enough about hoe good my feet are with them.

Not the most good looking shoe but what about crocs??
- By Dill [gb] Date 13.10.09 09:25 UTC
I LOVE my ECCO shoes, they come in a range of styles and are the first shoes I have had in my whole life that fit my small feet and are totally comfortable.

They aren't cheap, but I am currently wearing a pair I bought about 5 years ago, which I have worn for walking the dogs (and any other time I don't need 'dress' shoes) every day - and they are still going strong!

I got them half price (I now have another pair bought at half price too :-D ) but even at full price they would be good value considering how long they have lasted :-D

I have to agree about Crocs, I wear mine all day everyday, and when standing grooming, they cushion my feet. I dont think I have had such comfty shoes.

Crocs here too. I'm on my feet most of the day and they never hurt when I'm wearing crocs - but they are ugly!! I've also got a pair of fitflops but the clog style ones and they are ultra comfy on the feet too. I'm hoping they are also improving my ugly b*tt and legs at the same time :-D Expensive though!

One of the problems with wellies is that they draw moisture and allow your feet to spread.  As you have to go on and do more standing and exercise later in the same day I'd suggest a more fitted shoe.  Whilst Crocs are comfortable they might not support your foot adequately and aren't necessarily the easiest things to run in.

As someone else suggested, a good running trainer might be the answer or something designed to be supportive - have a look at Rieker

Looking at it from another angle - is there an alternative to wearing wellies at work?  Could you wear Crocs? They won't give you the same problems as your wellies do, therefore you won't need special shoes later in the evening

What about Merrells i wear them all the time, they make Walking boots, sandals and trainers and all are cushioned and comfy.  Boots and training shoes are made for fell walkers and runners so they are also waterproof.  There comfy shoes are a dream on my feet! I wear them instead of slippers around the house:-)

I used to wear Ecco shoes and they are very comfy but I have been in trainers for years now and find shoes uncomfortable.  I decided to treat myself to comfy shoes a couple of weeks back, wanted red ones and tried on a pair of red suede Reiker slip ons (I usually hate slip ons) and it was like putting my slippers on! They are so comfortable but they have support too.

Me too and they last for ever

Really Ruth, was there any need to post about Fly Flots!  :)

Having never heard of them I thought I'd have a peek and have just bought two pairs of sandals.  They were more than half their normal price and as we're going our summer holidays in just over two weeks I'll be able to wear them this year (even if I didn't really need them).  Have sent a link to my friend who's also looking for sandals for going away, so we'll see how much commission shoe-shop owe you.

Why I'm looking at a post about comfy shoes when I didn't need any more shoes is another matter!  :)
- By dorastar [gb] Date 13.10.09 18:03 UTC
Im glad you bought two pairs cause once you've worn a pair you wont want to wear any other shoes.  I wear mine all the time and have even bought a pair of flyflot slippers :-)

I had been thinking of crocs...found a pair of ortho-crocs which sounded good. I can't really NOT wear wellies as I need good high water proof foot gear and also with the use of the disinfectant at work I really wouldn't want to spend the money just for them to be ruined in a few weeks time. Some of the girls have spent upwards of £50 for water proof walking boots and the tri-gene ruined them and they couldn't get a refund because of the exposure to chemicals.

I can however put inserts into them and there are one or two interesting suggestions. But for training class and the shows...a separate shoe and or trainer would be ideal.

I have been busily looking up all the suggestions.  I would like to be able to find a store nearby as I am an odd fit in shoes. I prefer a wider shoe as I have a few problems being flat footed and tight laces over the tops of my feet cause my toes to go numb..:-)
I had a bad frost injury to my feet when I was a child and it has caused a lot of problems....so I can just buy off the internet as such unless they have a liberal return policy so I can buy/try and keep or send back for a more suitable fitting.

Very picky I know...but with sore feet and a little money to spend......I need to make really sure something fits before I can buy it.
Cheers
and thanks...:-)

I love my (fake) crocs & wear them indoors, so comfy but not great looking. Good for wide feet + bunions. For outdoor walking in reasonable conditions I wear Muck Boot Co. shoes & have a pair of their boots for wet weather. Both suit my wide feet.
Changing the subject slightly got my M-I-L a pair of Padders slippers, tried them on & they felt heavenly.

My shoes arrived this morning and you weren't kidding when you said how comfy Fly Flots were!  I may not have needed them, but I'm sure I'll be thankful for them when I'm walking round Disney in just over two weeks time.  :)
- By dorastar [gb] Date 16.10.09 12:20 UTC
Glad you like them Earl and have a great time in disney knowing that your feet will be comfy :-)

Freewayz - the last crocs I bought were from Sportsworld and they were reduced to £15 a pair (which is about half price).
