Does anyone knit who could help me, I've got a knitting pattern for a baby jacket (just found out going to be a granny sooo excited) and it's telling me to do "blackberry stitch" It's a very long time since I picked up a pair of needles and I'm completely baffled as to what it is.

Barbara not sure if this is what i call bramble stitch if it is. Its k1p1k1 all in the one stitch on the right side of the knitting.
On the back its p3 together thus making the bramble . Make sure the bramble goes through to the front of the knitting after you purl the 3 together

Usually on a pattern there is the information on how to make a particular stitch. It tends to be in a box on the first page. Must admit I have never done a blackberry stitch and I've been knitting for 40 years or more (I'm not even 50, yet ;-) )

I'm a bit confused is blackberry and bramble stitch the same. It sounds a little too advanced for me.

Works on multiples of 4 stitches.

Row 1 (right side): Purl.

Row 2: *(Knit 1, purl 1, knit 1) all in the same stitch, purl 3 together. Repeat from * across.

Row 3: Purl.

Row 4: *Purl 3 together, (knit 1, purl 1, knit 1) all in the same stitch. Repeat from * across.

These are the 4 rows that set the pattern for bramble stitch.
Is it like the little berry pattern  you see in Arran knitting.
