Topic Dog Boards / Showing / detangling tools??
- By luvhandles Date 09.10.09 17:43 UTC
My two Cavaliers are both neutered, Harvey (ruby) has been fortunate enough to keep his beautiful sleek coat, but Alfie (black and tan) has a coat like a yeti and gets awfully knotty ears, armpits, chest, under carraige and rump - well, pretty much everywhere. I give them a going over every day and find that metal combs with rotating teeth work really well. I bought one from Crufts last year which was very good but the handle snapped off it and I can't remember what brand it was. I bought a replacement but its nowhere near as good as the last one and although the handle has stayed in tact, the teeth bend very easily and are all over the place. Can anyone recommend any high quality, easy to use detangling tools?

TIA

Hayley

http://www.championpets.co.uk/ ( go to grooming )

I use 'the stuff' from hub soak the coat let it dry and it is easier to keep mat free . I also use Cowboy magic detangler also available at hub, just rub it in the matt leave it a few minutes go back to it and ease the mat apart. brilliant product ,worth the money.

I normally find Mikki grooming tools rubbish, but I find their 'De-Matter' (I think!) a great little thing. It's quite small, but very useful with my spayed Collie yeti to strip out a bit of undercoat and get any tangles that I miss without hurting the dog.

It's also fantastic at this time of year for removing whatever those darn spikey seed case things are when they get really tangled in without any pain to the dog - and minimal pain to ME with the spikes sticking in too.

Difficult to find a pic, but it's this kind of thing.
