Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Postal Strike, Show Entries

Just had a thought about show entries getting to secretaries of dog shows-had an awful thought about it this morning.

I am a seretary of an all breed open show-our clubs show next month.

I am in Manchester so not sure if strike is general or in certain areas-have not read news as yet.

What does one do?.

If someone turns up at the show but you have not had their entry as long as they have proof of posting you have to accept it.  If they dont you dont.

As far as I know the national strikes havent yet happened but there are some local ones.

Hope this helps.

I don't think that's quite right,  I think if someone comes on the day stating that they have entered, you have to let them exhibit, though i think you can ask them pay the entry fee on the day.  When you submit the returns the KC will write to any exhibitor who has not appeared in the catalogue to request they submit their evidence of entry - ie proof of posting - they then decide whether they are disqualified from any awards won.

I was thinking more on the lines of me getting entries to write in catalogue letting judges know their entries. Clun getting to know general entries overall.

However it is out of my hands so not much I can do about it anyway.

I know on the day they can enter and pay on the day-has happened in the past and have sent all paperwork back to KC and then up to them.

Thanks for your replies

I was asked to give my e-mail address and phone no to the secretary when I sent back my contract accepting a judging appointment for this coming December - given the postal strike, I am just kind of assuming she'll contact me either by phone or e-mail!

I think so long as they have proof of posting then you have to let them exhibit. But many championship shows have got online entry system which is a big help. Dont know if many of the open shows do yet or not.  This is my concern too

As a secretary of a general ch show, you do not need to see the proof of posting.

If an exhibitor claims they have made and entry and its not in the catalogue, you can take there entry on the day, its up to the KC to require the proof.

However, i always ask if they have it or not, if they have they have no problem, if they dont, i explain they KC will require it.

The genuine ones are easy to spot
