Tamara why not treat yourself to a short course at a really good grooming school and learn how to scissor a poodle?  Some will take you just a couple of days to learn a specific breed and if you've already got the basics, that should be all you need to perfect your scissoring. :)

now this is a really good idea.i was accepted at college for level three of styling all breeds ect but it was a two year course at one day a week,i didnt wanna do that as im happy doing what im doing now.
i dont suppose you'd know anywhere that would do it do you??

Either that or how about one of the step by step dvd's that show you how to trim a poodle? They are always being advertised in the dog press.

Your best bet would be to go along to one of the grooming competitions and you'll see some masters at work!  Some of the best are poodle breeders/exhibitors and tend to teach at their own schools. ;)
If you've done general college training then I would recommend that anyway because you'll see a different way of grooming.

Northern Groomers run one but so do others.

And Dezynadogs are worth a try.  http://www.dezynadog.co.uk/

Tamara, if you turn out super poodles, you'll have owners travelling for miles to you! :)

How about finding a show person nearby and ask if they would mind showing you?

I know somebody in poodles, she may be willing to show you a bit as im sure she does her dogs herself, i am at a show during the day but i will try and get hold of her number as she does not have internet access and make sure its ok to pass it onto you, and pm it to you tomorrow evening, if thats any help to you

You would be better going to a grooming course and take her with you, that way you can learn on your own dog :)  As a previous poster said it would be a good idea to go along to a show to watch others trimming its a great way to learn.  There is a championship poodle show at the end of November in Peterborough so all 3 sizes of poodles will be there so plenty grooming for you to watch and maybe find someone that lives near you that is willing to help.  From another point of view it would also be cheaper in the long run to do her yourself as I personally would charge a lot more for a show trim rather than a basic pet trim.  It may cost quite a bit to go to a grooming school but think of the satisfaction of doing her yourself and it will work out more economical in the long run.

I have a friend here in north London (Enfield) who does a brilliant poodle groom, she has one herself and used to have to and her scissoring is great! Probably too far for you though, but pm me if not. Her girl is currently in a summer clip, very cute!
