Hi,
I'm after possible help and or advice on my dog.
She was mated on the 29th of september, successfully.
I've noticed she has become a lot more loving than she already was, her nipples are a lot more distinctive and there is small tissue building up underneath them. This is all monitored by myself.
But about an hour ago, i've noticed small 'greenish liquid mucous' vaginal discharge.
It is not pouring out of her or causing her discomfort and no differentiation in her personality to indicate she is in pain.
Sha has let me touch her back end to check for pain but she was not phased by it, The almost liquid discharge has a slight smell to it but not prominant or distinctive.
she is still eating and drinking like normal, nothing to tell me she has a problem apart from the discharge.
Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated
Yours thankfully,
Holly.

My Typing error, it was the 25th of September that she was mated.
Have you taken her temp?
Could be an infection?
Pyometra perhaps, hope not!
We had a OES that was in discomfort/pain and we took her in and she has a pyometra.
Just a thought to keep in mind.

I'm thinking more on the lines of a possible infection, I hope and will most certainly pray its not Pyometra!
is it common for bitches to have an infection after mating has taken place?
i'm sorry i must of not made it clear enough, she has no discomfort or any pain.
This is what is really confusing me because there is no pain and certainly no discomfort at all..
Thankyou very much for getting back to me misswager.

you need to take her temperature, also is she wanting to pee more then usual? Drinking more? My girl did not have pain to begin with, but she had a smelly green discharge and was drinking more, she then had a temperature and was rushed to the vets with pyometra, she had been mated 3 weeks prior. I dont want to scare you, and this could maybe just be an small infection, but please have her checked out by your vet. X

I do need to take her temperature, only problem being I don't have a thermometer. Stupid and very novice of me i know. She is not drinking anymore than usual and not wanting the toilet more than her 5 times a day routine. No difficulty weeing, no straining or small amounts at a time.
And don't worry i'm no money grabbing puppy farmer, my bitch means more to me than any potential litter, she's not a dog she is my only daughter :). This is one disease i fear the most out of any other because i could lose her and i know how dangerous it is if left un-treated. I will place a post after she has been diagnosed and what treatment she is undertaking from my local vets. Thankyou very much for your advice and your concern Gemini05

:) fingers crossed here, that everything turns out ok for your girl. :)
It may be something as simple as Vaginitis, maddies mum had a green discharge about a week or so after mateing, she was given antibiotics and went on to have 4 pups but i would get her down to the vets just to make sure.
Hope this clears up ASAP. I would go and get a thermometer from Boots or somewhere to have on hand.
But I think I would take her to the vet to catch the infection early before it gets worse. It will also put your mind at ease :)

One of my girls had a similar problem a few years ago but the discharge was a bit thicker than liquid. She had vaginitis and went on antibiotics. She also went on to have 4 healthy puppies. I hope everything goes well.

sounds like an infection, but definitely would get her to the vets. Also would due to her other symptoms, which after only a week seem to be a little soon to be showing signs like that, you don't realy notice things like that normallly until 3/4 weeks.
I hope it all goes well for you and your girl.
One of my girls had this 7 weeks in whelp and it gushed from her all over my carpet. I rushed her straight to the vets and feared the worst but it was also vaginitis and she went on to have 7 healthy babies a week and half later with no problems at all.
Let us know how you get on.

Hi All,
Thankyou Ever So Much For Your Help And Advice And Also Your Concern!
My Little One Is Doing Fine! She Had Cystitis! Of All Things, So Now She Is Being Treated With Noroclav Anti-Biotics And Has A Check Up Again On Monday A Week After They Was Prescribed. She's Had A Urine Sample Taken To Check All Is Good. So Now It'll Be A Smooth Ride Hopefully :) Until The Little Shop Of Horrors Are Born Of Course!
Thankyou All So Very Much!
Holly
