what, if anything, do you use to wash a bitch's teats?  I know years ago my mum used diluted dettol but not sure if it's the done thing anymore.

Whilst my girl will go in an area without other dogs in the garden, we do get foxes etc. & I don't want her bringing anything nasty in with her.

I use diluted dettol and have never had a problem . I use it for a lot of things , cuts and grazes also cleaning my kitchen tiles.

What about colloidal silver? I've never used it for that purpose but can't see it doing any harm.

Must admit just wipe my girls down with a  flannel with a bit of soap on on the odd occassion that I feel it needs doing.  I do worry that people can over protect their dogs.

I wouldn't worry so much if it wasn't for the foxes, badgers, hedgehogs, wild boar etc. that seem to find their way across my garden at various stages of the night.

WOW what an exciting place wild boar.  We just get the odd hedgehog and fox LOL!  Hopefully your girl and mine are going to be aunties tonight fingers crossed. :)

Yes, exciting news for all our girls hopefully.  The foxes are more of a nuisance than the boar disease-wise, the boar are just plain mean at times.  Haven't seen any this autumn though (will await the local cross bred piglets ;-))  Foxes are in abundance (see at least 3 a night in the field).  As for the badgers, saw 3 trotting across the road last Thursday night on my way home from agility, but see an awful lot of road kill badgers!

Right, hibiscrub will be dug out just in case :-D

I just read wild boar and immediately thought "wow, how exciting"!
Just out of curiosity, what sort of level of dilution of Dettol would be used?  Presume it would be a very weak solution.

I just use a baby wipe, I feel they clean without upsetting the natural flora around the teats.
