Topic Dog Boards / General / Treats for Service Dogs

I just received this on one of the e mail groups I'm on

I have been asked to pass this request on to as many as I can, I believe this is a worthy cause whatever we may think about the politics of the forces being in Afghanistan.
The military working dogs special unit in Camp Bastion in Afghanistan has approached The Royal British legion for help.
These are the dogs that work with their handlers detecting explosives, drugs and bodies; they work in temperatures of 40 degrees or more and are in some of the most hostile environments.
The dog handlers have put out a plea for doggy treats, so that they can reward their dogs who are more like friends to them. It is also getting the handlers down that they cannot buy these treats over there.
Please can a few of you get together and fill a shoebox full of these treats, anything but chocolate because it melts, and send to the unit. The shoebox should not weigh more than 2kg and will be accepted at all post offices.
These boxes have to be addressed to a person, so if you are really interested and want to help..............

Please PM me as I don't think the lady's, who will give the details,e mail should be on an open forum

I've started my collection - thanks for the address.

Am I right in saying that as we are sending to a named individual that our parcels will qualify for the free mail service?

Here is a link to Royal Mail for info on parcel sizes and other rules

Yep The parcels have to be sent to a named service person
