I've lost my bitch's pedigree papers, which I don't need for breeding but I do need for competition agility. (Or you have to register them again!) Kennel club have said the bitch is still registered to the breeder and that I need to contact the breeder to get it done but they can't give me the breeders details to contact them or a reason why they can't they just said they can't?!
I found that a bit strange, as I was able to give them the month and location of the litter and my bitches Kennel Club name, has anyone else come across this?
or a reason why they can't they just said they can't?!
Data protection I would think these days. :(

Well I would get a copy of the breed supplements for that breed and quarter that the puppies were registered in and then do some detective work.

Can't you simply Google the affix? This usually throws up breeder details etc....

Go onto the KC site & go to the health test search & put your bitches name into the search box, this will give to the bitches KC number. You can then download a copy of the transfer form from the site & then you can complete it, contact your bitches breeder & ask them to sign the form so you can then transfer your bitch into your name. As soon as the form has gone to the KC you can enter her with TAF(Transfer applied for)after her name.
If you have a problem with the site send me a message(click on my user name & the option to send a message is on the page)& I'll walk you through it
Go onto the KC site & go to the health test search & put your bitches name into the search box, this will give to the bitches KC number. No it doesn't -if you input a name only there will be no registration number shown, only the dog's breed.

OK I stand corrected
To the OP send me a message & I may be able to help you trace your dog's breeder

am assuming the breeder has moved since you bought your dog?
May be worth contacting the breed club and ask the secretary to contact them for you giving your contact number.

No the address details haven't changed or not that I know of, I just lost my paperwork in a house move. :)
Thanks for your suggestions, I found her on the health register but have PMd to see if Moonmaiden can help anymore.
I don't know what the Breeders Affix/kennel name is, only my dog's show name.
Your breeder's affix will be the first name of your dog's show name. :)

can you not write to the breeder if you say you know where she lives? Or even like brainless says, contact breed club and get them to pass on your contact details

Hmm well the affix isn't on my dogs name.... :(
No I don't have the address details, where did i say I did? Otherwise I'd not be contacting the kennel club would I? LOL :)
Will try breed club next!

sorry but you said 'no the address details have not changed, well not that i know of' thats what made me think you knew the address of the breeder you bought your dog from! Silly me,,,,
They can forward a letter to the breeder asking them to contact you
Hmm well the affix isn't on my dogs name.... :-(
Don't worry, not all breeders have an affix they don't have to have one, most of us like to particularly when competing or breeding to make our lines recognisable. :-)
As already said the KC should if asked contact the breeder for you, the only other way is for you to physically drive back to where you got your pup from no matter how far, depends how badly you wish to transfer. Another lesson for the importance in transfering ownership when purchasing a pup straight away, so many people don't, I think many of us have pups still under our names. :-D

Just write a letter to the breeder and send it to the KC to forward on asking the breeder to contact you.
Hi
For agility you don't actually need your dog's papers all you need is her KC registration number. My friend had lost her papers and all she did was phone the KC, give her KC name and they gave her the KC number she required.
Good luck

The poster needs to transfer the ownership of her dog as she didn't do it at the time she bought the pup, so needs to get the breeders signature on a copy of the registration certificate. As it is in the breeders name as owner only they can get a new reg cert..

So true! Last time I registered a litter online, I counted up just how many dogs I have registered in my own name. It was something in the region of 24 dogs!!!!
