Help please, my Lab boy has developed a couple of sores underneath his jaw. I noticed them about 2 - 3 days ago and have applied some Sudocreme.
They're not bothering him at all and he's not scratching at them.
This morning I showed a fellow dog walker, someone who I think is quite experienced with animals, and she said to keep an eye on it, it might be mange.
I have no knowledge of mange at all and wondered what I should be looking for. I think I will take him to the Vets on Monday but in the meantime will bathing it in Hibiscrub help or would Sudocreme be better?
Thanks
C
(Sorry, meant this to be in Health)
Mange is/are mite infestation, not sure if it a contagious thing only but its often a symptom of a low immune system. Only way to determine if it is mange is a skin scraping but alot of vets treat it without a proper diagnosis, jumping on the band wagon so to speak. How old is your boy, sounds more like a hot spot to me or allergies.

He's coming up 5, and never had any skin problems or allergies before. What I think is odd is that it's obviously not itchy because it's not bothering him.
It actually looks more like a wound where the skin has been scraped, sort of a bit sore and bloody but not bleeding if you know what I mean.
I shall keep it clean with the Hibiscrub and if needs be, have him to the Vets on Monday.
(Just a thought, it sort of coincides with me giving him chubb meat in his dinner! Couldn't be related, could it?)

Webbox Chubb?
Take him off it and see what it does

Yes it was Webbox :(
I only put a little in his dinner, gave him some Weds and Thursday. It would have been a very quick reaction. He didn't have any yesterday or today.
Mm i duno i might be webbox
It doesn't look like the best nutrition for dogs, if hes on complete dry then theres no need to add it anyway, i suppose.

Oh, and this week I started giving both dogs a Glucosamine and Chrondroitin tablet. I don't know if they can cause a reaction?
