just wondering what vet fees you have had for the above? i asked my vet for prices the other day he said £3-400 in day and £7-800 out of ours but all depends on time. its for a small breed.
i think its pretty fair but thought i would check with you guys. im in the midlands.

I'm a bit further south than you, but I've paid £1,086 on a toy breed out of hours.  And I've paid £648 for a toy breed during normal office hours.

i was charged £900 for my girl who weighed around 80 kilos and it was out of hours so compared to some thata a good price.

£380 at midnight. All live pups to.

I recently paid just under £400 for a GSP. It ran over into out of hours between 6 and 8pm. Thats in Shropshire.
About 6 years ago I paid £400 for one at midnight with an emergency vet.

I paid £200 in vets office hours, for one live pup for a Border T section, that was 3 years ago in NE Scotland.

I recently paid £900 for terrier breed 5 live pups, went in at 5pm and home at 8.30pm my husband and i even helped in the theatre with tkaing the pups nd getting them going - no discount for this!

I recently paid £170 for my gundog bitch to have a c-section, she is approx 13kg. She had two live pups. That was including antibiotics and x-ray to make sure there was nothing else left inside her. It was in normal practice hours. I am in Dorset.

My bitch had a c-section approx 2 1/2yrs ago . Sunday and it ran over surgery hours. Total cost approx £280, she had two live pups, 3rd  died shortly after being born. This included oxytocinfor mum and dopram for pup.Toy breed. I was gobsmacked at the price and was expecting to pay double that. I think it is shocking how prices vary so dramatically. Edited to add -Previously I had a larger breed bitch have 12 pups by c-section and that cost approx £350.

Just paid £750 to deliver 1 puppy ( the other one delivered naturally) during office hours - no complications - Hampshire.

Last C-section I had was £1300 for a giant breed during normal hours. Eight healthy pups and mum recovered really well afterwards. That was 15 months ago so would probably be more now. I did have three vets in attendance and four nurses so worth every penny .
Had to laugh though, one pup was a little slow to getting going so they gave him a few puffs of oxygen and charged 50p for it !!

I have jut paid £698 which included an out of hour appointment and blood tests, the C-section was performed during working hours that morning, am in the Manchester area.

Blimey, fancy charging you 50 p for a whiff of oxygen, that really is very petty, bearing in mind how much the c-section cost !

This isnt to any one in particular, just out of intersest i notice some of you mentioning the amount of live pups (this may sound silly) do vets charge more depending on the amount of pups that are delivered via c-section, i.e price per pup

My Vet doesn't charge per pup but I know some do.

Goodness things are expensive around here.  I paid around £500 for a C section in 2000, and same in 2001, both just out of hours as had gone in at end of surgery hours.

i payed £756.69p, was an emergancy my girl had but withing hours and shes an English bull terrier i know this amount off the top of my head now as i always joke  that as she only had one puppy and iv kept him (his my lil prince) he only cost me £6.69p more than i paid for his mum and iv had her 4 years not bad at these rate of inflation, lol :-D just kidding , he was well worth every penny ,xx  oh and her c section was may 2008, WERE IN CENTRAL LONDON TO if that makes a diffenance i dont know,
but if it does seem expensive to some of you i have to say he is a really good vet i think anyway even if a bit expensive he is very good with his advice,

blimey where do you live?? is every thing that good value their ? , we'll all be moving your way if so lol

To be honest of late things seem to have gone a bit more pricey there. My eldery bichon had an ear infection and it cost £50 which I thought was expensive, although it did include ear cleaner, drops and oral antibiotics. Having said that I had my male rabbit neutered the other day and it only cost £36 lol.

I paid £961 6 weeks ago for an out of hours one. 25kg bitch, 9 pupies born naturally another 5 by C section.

I had a look at my bill and my vet doesn't charge per pup either. However surgical time and anaesthetic gases are charged per minute so I guess the larger the litter, the more expensive the section would be.

Thats a massive litter hop all puppies were ok!

DDB bitch 65kgs 6 puppies delivered 2 died, 1 born naturally. £600 this included spay and oxy shot, normal surgery hours.

I know exactly what you mean. I always used to pop in to my vet and if he was not busy wait until he had a break in patients if I simply wanted to ask advice. Recently however I did this and got a real strip torn off by the receptionist, in front of the waiting room full of people. I was then told that if I want to speak to the vet even to ask which wormer he might reccomend I would have to make an appointment and so when I went back for the appointment to ask about flea treatments I was charged £13.99. Needless to say this does not encourage the less responsible owner from going to the vet for advice.

HOW RUDE, i would be furious. i ring up and ask for advice sometimes and the receptionist will say she needs to wait until surgery has finished which is fine but they are not a vet, if the vet told you that you need to pay for 2 minutes of advice well ok but its not up to the receptionist

The vet was annoyed although he would not say so and he did back her up by insisting I was charged for the time.

All the puppies and mum are fine........they leave for their new homes starting next Wednesday

My girl Had a ceaser 7 weeks ago total cost was £470 which included oxcy,calcium and anti biotics. She had 5 pups at home ok, 1 large pup was stuck and died but vet saved another pup which was caught behind. I was lucky in the fact that our vets is open Sat 8-6 so wasnt classed as out of hours

Blimey, my vet rang me at home and chatted to me for 15 mins or so when I needed his advice and no he didn't bill me for the phone call or his time ! I do think some surgeries think far too much about profit than customer care.

My Sophie had a C Section in February it cost £350, she is 13kg and an ESS. My neighbours mums German Shepard had one at xmas and it cost her £1,000

I paid £300 for my bitch to have a c-section out of hours. 25kg bitch and 9 large puppies. All after care included and my vet phoned the morning after to make sure bitch and pups were ok. I have to admit Im lucky to have a vet like him as I have used some that are far too obsessed with the money side!!
