Topic Dog Boards / General / Canines in spirit?

We're off to see Lisa Williams tomorrow evening on her UK tour http://www.lisawilliams.com/ and I'm curious to know if anyone here has any experiences of 'visitations' from their departed canines that other people have picked up on as opposed to being alone and feeling your pet is still around.

I'm going with an open mind but I'm obviously fascinated!  I'm also wondering if she'll be tripping over any of my beautiful dogs who have left this world ahead of me...!

Anyone else going?

Years ago I went to visit a spiritulist, really just for a night out with a bunch of friends.  It was a small group reading and I was extremely sceptical - there was a visit from a sibling who died in childhood, giving his name and loads & loads of information - stuff that none of my friends really knew about.  At one point the medium said that she was having difficulty hearing because of the dog barking.  She then described the dog - to the hair it was my childhood dog.  I believe everything that happened that night - the communication was far too clear, no prevarication (sp?).  Went to see the same woman about a year later and nothing!

I had a claivoyant come round to my house (one of those girly evenings where you pay £20 each for a reading). On my turn she said that she could see a big black dog in the spirit world and was saying that he was quite distressed when he passed away but that he was fine now and I wasn't to worry about him.

The dog she was talking about was 1 that had been PTS a year earlier than her visit. I had a springer spaniel at the time of her visit so nothing like the dog she was describing so she couldn't have just been guessing. She also described noises that I sometimes heard in my home and described things that the springer did (how could she ever know the behaviour of my dog?!) and said it was all relating to the black dog returning to the house.

Spooky....

My Grandmother often used to see spirits and when her dog died she used to always tell us that the dog was sat at the bottom of the stairs and could we jump over him when we were on the last step, we grew up when visiting her jumping over that step, to be honest we didn't really believe her, particularly when we were older, but it became a habit.  Until many years later one of my nieces aged approx 2 came into Great grannies house and kept pointing to the bottom step saying doggy, she even used to sit on the step and talk to the doggie, my brother swore he had never told her about it or my sister-in-law, but for a little while she also saw the dog.  Spooky! Never doubted the spirit world since.

I have a friend and her daughter who see spirits, her daughter is 6. Im not sure I tend to just smile and say "thats nice" but she described my younger brother who died age 19 in 1977 to a T, spooky!

In our other house where our golden retriever was put to sleep i knew that she had come back to see me, because when she was alive and well and wanted to come into our living room, she would always push the door open slightly and then push it a bit more to open it fully, this particular day the door opened slightly and i knew it was her! there were no windows open in the house for it to be a draught, and i was on my own so there was nobody around playing tricks.

On another occasion in my present home, a small light brown dog walked over to me and layed down beside me, i would love to know who that dog was.
