We spent ages earlier in the year deciding on a new car (to us) that fits the children and the dogs.  We finally decided on a Toyota Avensis tourer and bought a dog guard and tailgate guard too.  Perfect.

Trouble is that the car is so good my OH wants another but this time thinks we should get the 2009 model with all the toys. Lovely; but we have to start all over again with the dog bits and none of them fit the new shape!

Sadly I'm the first person to ask Barjo for a tailgate guard for this model so I need to visit them in Wokingham to get measured.  We are in Somerset with school aged children, so getting there and back in school hours is tricky, and Barjo are closed at the weekend.

My question is this:  Do you know anyone with a 2009 Toyota Avensis tourer who might be willing (if I pay them) to take it to Wokingham to be measured ?

A longshot I know but I thought I'd ask :)

Sorry I dont have an avensis but are barjo going to charge you £50 for the pleasure of being the first to request one ? A few years ago my then OH had a brand new car and barjo said they would measure up if he went to them but it would cost £50 !!!!!  We did argue it with them and I think got it waived in the end but I thought it was a damn cheek, seeing as really we were doing them a favour in the long run.

Sorry I cant help though.

Have you checked with any of the other crate makers ? When I got my then new Scooby I contacted a few & found that most had access to dealerships so they could simply go to the dealer & measure the car themselves

MMG Guards will simply go and find a car of the correct model in a dealership and measure it if they don't have it on their books already. I am on my second Scooby (!) and on both occasions MMG found the right model to measure and the cages have fitted beautifully (not many dealers around, so MMG do have to go to some effort to do this). They are also very nice, solid cages.

my mmg rear guard is the worst ive ever had. doesnt fit the vehicle properly and not bolted in, just useless screw succkers that a large hound can throw themselves against. never again, Id rather pay £50 to barjo!!!

I can't believe that they want you to turn up there with your car to be measured. Its down to them to get the measurements i would of thought. I drove there for them to fit mine, but they sorted out all he measurements on mine without me turning up there.. I would call them and query this and be very insistent that its too far and also they should be doing the homework if they want your business.

There is no charge for measuring and although I did think about a dealer nearer to them  - I didn't actually ask the question

I'd rather go with Barjo if possible.  I spent a lot of time making enquiries last time (and looking in the back of cars at shows!) and sadly some companies were let down by their customer service.  Additionally as we've now had one we've been very pleased with I'd hate to get a different one and be disappointed.

In the meantime I now have a dog guard from a Subaru Forester and a dog guard and tailgate guard from a Toyota Avensis to sell - do you detect a trend?  Perhaps my OH is having a minor mid life event?!! :)

> I am on my second Scooby

I'm on my third Scooby & the interior is different from the previous 2. I did a lot of research & went with Lintran. As I was actually going to visit a friend within 1/2 a mile of them, so I popped in & discussed the box & my needs & ordered & paid for the box there & then. They already had the measurements & were really helpful, I went back to pick it up & the fitted it for me & it's never been out of the car since-may Scooby is now 7 years old(I'm never partly with him BTW)& I'm highly delighted with the box & would definitely go back to them, in fact when I get a van(in addition)next year I'll be going back to Lintran to discuss boxes for it.
