~ The Champdogs On-line Funshow for 2009!! ~

Now this is how it was -> The Champdogs Funshow 2008

We have used the Flickr site for some years now, but as many will remember it was a bit of a Kerfuffle getting joined up and up-loading and even worse a right palava voting!

Sooooooo.......

This is how it will be -> ~ The Champdogs On-line Funshow 2009 ~

Voting will be a breeze as (Many thanks Killickchick!!!) I have found a poll that we can attach where by all you have to do is click on a photo to vote!! simpulz :-)

The new proposed site is still in construction.... Just posting so you can get an idea
-Joining is very simple (no need to wait for authorization etc)
-Up loading photo's is easier you can upload from your PC or this site is linked to 'Photobucket' too.
(Sadly it is not linked to Flickr though)
-The site is also linked to Facebook and Twitter (so you can receive updates there)
-And of course, voting will be much simpler with the new poll system where you just click on the photo you want to vote for :-)

Some of the problems we have have had historically that members have commented on have been:
* Members posting too many photos of the same dog in the same class
* Too many classes to choose

So, do we think some classes should be culled, what sort of max would you like to see?
Would you prefer a max number of photos for each dog in each class?
What do you think of the new site?
What classes would you like to see, which do you think we can do without?

Couple of other things I've discovered:

Naming your photos is much easier on this site (remember it was a bit of a faff on flickr)
The slide show to view photo's is much better (and you can view in 3D!!!..... fancy!!)

I think we will probably have to limit each member to only posting one photo of each dog entered in each class this year (as we could exceed our space given its a 'free' web) also that may mean we might end up not having the Video category as well??

Agree one photo per dog per class

Be nice to have another pets section - small furries and cats maybe :)  Also runs for cover esp. as we only have fish and a hamster here LOL!!!

Those of you that have already up-loaded pics you can edit the Title (needs to say your username and dogs name) and the Caption (which you put extra info about your dog 'call name'/ Breed / age etc) I have edited some already to show correct title (Briedog and Merlot)

Those of you about to join / upload pics please read the instructions on the home page first!
and ensure your username is your Champdogs Username.

(Breehant,Ceejay,Poloaussie and Harley are you still all happy/able to be on the Show working committee again? Looks like its going to be muccccch easier than last year ;) and we certainly couldn't have done it without you last year!)

Will join! As for classes, I very much miss a Rainbow Bridge class -feels even more important than before having lost my oldie Dandy this year. And if I'm going to be picky we could perhaps do with something a bit more formal than pretty bitch/handsome dog -I'm sure lots of us have formal photos that doesn't necessarily show the bitch being pretty or the dog being handsome, so something along the line of "portrait" or similar? Or just "any adult"?

Errrrrr...... I think Ive broken it. Followed instructions to upload a pic of scabbyabbers to the golden oldies section... seemed to work but piccy no appear!

Must admit I was thinking this would be a good combination too!

I think the best thing to do is wait for everyones suggestions/ requests to come in for more/other classes and then Im going to add a poll to this thread so the decision is in the hands of everyone joining in.
(Not having a repeat of the whinging of previous years!! Its a Funshow and there where times when those of us running around in the background certainly didn't feel the fun!! lol)

Everybody needs to remember the biggest complaint last year was the number of classes so maybe when we get the poll results we can decide then which to keep or the results may well speak for themselves (Here's hoping!!)

If im being more helpful HG - i select me pic to upload... the status bar fills up, says 100%, me browser window fing says 'done' in the bottom corner so i hit submit....... and nuffink.

When you clicked on 'Add Photos' the first and top box asks you to choose where the photos are to go did you 'check' one of the options??
(To be honest I wouldn't have thought it would let you progress if you didn't?? I'll do a dummy run and see)

Ems when your upload was complete did you then get an orange box with an orange tick in a circle and a comment saying " Upload complete! Click on Upload Photos to upload more photos or Submit if you're finished."

then when you click submit (bottom of page) you are then linked to the 'album' your photo will not be the top one but the bottom one so you may have to scroll page down to see it?

Check you haven't used an unnacceptable file? (The first photo I tried to upload when I just did a dummy run wasn't accepted it said 'Unstable file' in tiny red writing and I nearly missed it.

The site doesn't seem to state wether pics have to be jpeg etc etc...

I don't mind being press ganged into stewarding again this year :-) Haven't had a chance to look at the site yet but will take a mooch around later. Not sure if it is against TOS but perhaps we could have a separate thread for videos and run it as a parallel "show". If you download a video to YouTube you could then put a link to it on a designated thread which would mean it could be viewed but wouldn't be taking up space on the CD 2009 show site. But that would probably have to be cleared with Admin as we aren't usually allowed to post links to photos etc except in our profiles.

Works lovely if you upload a more sensibly sized pic! I think the one i was aiming for was massive! The one I have uploaded will do instead.

I'm back and the choccie is lovely - dark chocolate (pause for another melt in the mouth square)  OK count me in to do something HG - feeling mellow now. :-)  Haven't tried uploading anything yet - really haven't got much in the way of good photos - most of mine have Meg's tail or backend as she disappears out of sight.  Hubby has the camera most of the time - we have thousands of our new build - very few of our grandchildren and even less of poor Meg.  Wish we hadn't got that easy camera now.

Check you out little miss organised! I'll have to get the camera out, even if it just for a look-a-likey pic!

I assumed it was one entry per DOG per class, as many of us have more than one that could go in the same class? Before I charged ahead and put more than one per class I did look and saw others had done it too so I hope I wasn't wrong..... BTW toolz, your pretty bitch.........LOVE her!! :)

No Toolz!! Marianne is right the stipulation is just one photo per individual dog

The main reason for that really, is that in previous years some folk would put up 2 or 3 photos of the same dog in  one class..... But the voting was that members voted for a photo, so when I was looking back at previous years voting I noticed that the members who did put in multiple photo's probably did themselves out of votes and if they'd just put in one photo of that dog it would potentially have got those votes and therefore beaten the dog that actually won! (Does that make sense??)

How about best action shot / best play?

Would something like 'Dogs in Motion' cover that d'you think?
I've been trying to think of catagory names that could encompass a lot (to save on amount of classes) so Dogs in Motion for example could be your dog snapped in action but also agility, working etc etc..... but then if it was a gun dog pointing (for example) then would 'in motion' be inclusive?? (aaargh!!!!)

sounds like a good one :)  like the idea of best friends / pack sort of thing

Dogs In Action - then the action can be what ever it is that breed does... so pointers pointing.... sighthounds coursing etc... but also covers dogs just being dogs..rolling about or leaping around.

OK iv Edited my Bullys names but my Rottie althought he is a pedigree his litter was not kc regestered so he does not have a KC name does this mean i cant put him in for Handsomest dog? :-( , he is so handsome to and is SOO photogenic, he's a big poser xxx (i have him up their already but will take him off if needs be)

And wanted to say that you have done a wonderful job with the site HG its really great well done to you x , i been having some family probs of late so not been on much but its really cheered me up looking at all the fab dogs theirs so many sweeties on their its fantastic , thanks for bringing a smile to my face cant wait to start voting but will be so hard their all so great, xx

The funshow classes are for all members and all dogs regardless of being pedigree or non-pedigree...  Its just for fun and the more the merrier!! :-)
