Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Additional £2 online entries
- By Blue Date 13.09.09 21:33 UTC
Please Note: There will be an additional charge of
£2.00 for each first entry made on-line after
midnight on Monday, 7th September 2009

Bit of a debate on some other forums..   I hadn't noticed it before but it applies I am told to Midland Counties.    Not convinced that the excuse of later entries cost addtional time and money.

That is it, won't do any more on-line, already was doing most by post as didn't want the hassle of printing passes.

Anyone know if I still have time to get an LKA schedule before postal entries close?
- By Blue Date 13.09.09 21:56 UTC
I think I am going to do the same.  It did certainly suit me the online but I am a bit of a stickler for principle.  That is £5 when you include the £1  on 2 dog entry.  Me thinks a bit norty norty..

Not sure about he schedule but you can still down load it of course.    I need to get organised and send for the schedules from the secretary now certainly will cost them more in the long run and time.

I thought the extended entries was to try and boost entries.

This has been the case for Birmingham National and SKC for the last two years. If you entered after the postal entries closed then it was £2 extra per entry and is actually down to the Show societys concerned. I did wonder how long it would be before others introduced it I note that for LKA it is £1 per entry rather than £2.

I love the convenience of online entries, but they really are taking the mick - with the advent of online passes (and sometimes these are also for people who have entered by post, Barbara!) they're doing less and less work and taking more money for it.

Maybe time for us all to take a stand and go back to traditional ways, see if they re-think.

I think we all should on this one :-)   " we" are trying to encourage people to show and come into the dog world.   I thought the extended entries were for the right reasons till I saw this.

Actually it would appear they let you know you can print them off, but as I entered by post I got sent the real passes a week later, so not helpful as it made me assume I wouldn't be getting them and had to print them off for nothing.

Also now I have a quandary, only one pass for first dog at LKA and £7 for visitors including those accompanying exhibitors, so do I cough up another £7 for hubby or enter another dog at £24 which will e a 10 year old veteran?

Could enter the only non Crufts qualified one, but pointless as hoping she will have a litter by Crufts.

im fed up with it too!! What bugs me is having to print off own passes. that might sound trivial but the way my computers are set up its a real pain and not atall easy to do as we dont have any online computers attached to a printer ! I emailed re wkc asking for a passs to be sent but got really snotty reply saying no way! its postal from now on im afraid!
- By molezak [gb] Date 14.09.09 07:58 UTC
Me too!  I do nearly everything on-line - shopping, banking, the lot, as I'm sure many of you do but the so-called convenient on-line entering, I'm afraid does nothing for me.  Now what with having to print off your own passes aswell as many shows charging you more than what it'd cost you to post, it always has and always will be snail mail for me (and that includes getting proof of posting too) until something changes dramatically.  Somethings got to change anyway to get peoples spirits up again.
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 14.09.09 08:00 UTC
I'm sorry but what extra work would it do for the show secretary??  None I would guess as it goes straight to the printers who I'm sure deal with the whole making up of the catalogue especially when entered in this way.
- By Brainless [gb] Date 14.09.09 08:08 UTC
On-line you do all the database entries for them, no one having to copy it off your entry form, and yet it always had a £1 extra charge.

The extension on closing date was what made it worthwhile if you needed it to be more sure of a bitch due in season, lack of coat etc, and it never made more work as the extra time is only what it would take to arrive in post and get sent on to the printers of postal entries.
- By montymoo [gb] Date 14.09.09 10:31 UTC
well i have decided not to enter
i am sick of being ripped off by these shows
there is no extra work involved
and if people stop entering they may get the message
i can see more people posting entries the way its going
shame as on line is so easy
and they wonder why show entries are down
- By Blue Date 14.09.09 11:40 UTC
PS Barbara,

my dogs are in my name only and I generally have someone with me often. Never asked for a pass or had to pay for them.
- By Noora Date 14.09.09 12:09 UTC
In my simple world and mind, online entries should be cheaper as surely people entering online saves time and money for all?
It is already computerised format, no need to sort out cheques, type the details, send response, send paperwork etc.
There is no chance of "gone missing in the post" either...

I really do not understand why they charge more for online entries, except maybe the club needs to pay for the service and the extra does not actually go to the club but the printers(which is very cheeky as surely it is easier for them too if all info comes already typed and ticked to the right class!)?

I had to pay at Windsor last year. :(
- By Blue Date 15.09.09 12:22 UTC
Just an update. I mentioned the additional costs to Fossedata today as one of the two e-mails you get from Fossedata had not arrived and called them.  I asked if these additonal costs were anything to do with them or if the society had extra costs at all from Fossedata themselves they said none whatsoever. it is was the show society.

no way am i paying a extra £4 to enter on line
as my bitch was due in season
i left it late to enter, as i,m sure a lot do.
these show societys are just getting greedy
and intodays climate, you think they would welcome
entries, not want to lose them

My dog is owned by both me and my OH and I have had to pay for one of us to get in at a few shows now as it has been the 1 dog 1 pass rule, which i think is a daylight robbery!
I'm having to read the small print on each schedule to make sure i order another pass if needed at the reduced rate when entering our boy. As I have been caught out on the gate before. :-( (still quite new to it all)

I own my dog in partnership so always end up with a spare pass which I rarely use.  I would be happy to post my LKA one to you, the only problem would be if it is dated as I know gundogs and hounds are on different days.
- By Brainless [gb] Date 16.09.09 16:45 UTC
At LKA it is sporting breeds together, so on that occasion we are with Gundogs, but it is the principle, as I often found many people feel a dog should not be left unattended, but as a single exhibitor I had no choice, yet now I have a helper/hubby I have to pay extra for the privilege.
- By ClaireyS Date 16.09.09 18:39 UTC
oh I agree, we are lucky that a few of us are benched together so there is always someone on the benches.  If you need it you are welcome to it :)
- By Brainless [gb] Date 16.09.09 18:41 UTC
I'll happily take you up on it if I have only one entered.
- By ClaireyS Date 16.09.09 19:16 UTC
give me a nudge nearer the time.
