Ok let me first say this aint my puppy, my mate has asked my to ask on here.

She brought a male pup to show from her breeder, he is now about 4 months and all was looking very promising. we took him to his first ringcraft class this week and the lady couldnt find both testicles just the one, my friend is posertive he had both at 10 weeks. She took him to her vets and he has told her he can feel it way up there and that it feels abnormal, and he thinks he has a problem and told her to monitor it and if its painfull to take him straight back and if its not painfull she has an apointment in 2 weeks for a cheak up. if it has not corrected it self then he suggests nutering as it's more likely to become canceres.

So she asked me to ask if anyone had this happen to them befor? and what was the outcome?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, had it happen, and no way would I let my vet operate until my boy was over a year old.  As it happened, the undescended testicle was in the inguinal canal, and was half the size of the descended one.

At 4 months I would be giving the pup a chance.  There are plenty of dogs that need more time.

When he is older, she doesn't have to have both removed if she doesn't want to.

I would advise her to leave his bits alone & stop continually checking them. Vets love to scare the pants of dog owners with tales of cancer in young dogs.

The more they are checked the more likely they are never to come down. I would cancel the next vets appointment & leave him until he is at least a year old.

He will be teething & I know my Rjjs testicles were like yoyos until he had almost finished teething.

No one should be checking puppies testicles at ring craft closely.

I sometimes despair of ring craft "trainers" many a young pup has been ruined at a ringcraft.

I check my puppies when I get them & not again until they have finished teething

my dad had a dog with this a few years ago. he didnt want him neutered and he lived to 14 no probs at all. of course he couldnt be bred from.

our neihbour has just had her pup neutered 4.5 mths old i was horrified she said the vet said it was the best thing for him and would calm him down! (how about letting him be a puppy i say!!)

I'm horrified too.  :-(
Poor pup won't even know he's a male.
