Not 100% sure but 12 months seems to spring to mind though could be wrong.

I don't think it is as far as I'm aware.

And unhelpfully it isn't in the rules printed in schedules so those new to showing wouldn't know about it.

No and it is amazing how many people that have been involved in the breed for a while that are not aware of the rule. Someone in my breed asked my mum if she would handle one of their dogs but as she was judging later in the year she couldn't and they were totally unaware of this rule.

Funnily enough I was asking two friends to look in their recent KC rule books for clarification of this rule. I believe it's still 12 months - if the judge has handled or boarded your dog in that period. We couldn't find it :-(
From experience - I won MP and P classes with two separate pups at a breed show, stupidly I asked the owner of the father of one of the pups to handle her 'grandchild'. Exactly 10 months later she was judging at a local Ch show and I didn't want to risk it.

The rules re showing under some one who has handled, boarded etc your dog haven't changed at all, the only thing that did change was the not being able to show a dog bred by the judge.

The regs are in the part of the F regs that deals with Disqualifications & Forfeit of Awards:

(9)Handled at a Show within the previous 12 months by the scheduled Judge. This shall not apply to dogs owned by a Judge appointed in an emergency

But it is an important rule for someone entering a show and along with not entering under the breeder should be one of those printed in the schedule.

Well TBH exhibitors sign to say that they will be bound by the KC Rules & Regs & for £1.50 they can get an up to date set of rules for whatever KC licensed activity they take part in. Considering how much money is spent on entries etc £1.50 is peanuts

I have been in dogs for a few years now, but have never really known where and how to get hold of the rules.

When I was in Rabbits where everyone was a BRC member you were sent these with your membership.

There really ought to be a welcome pack including rules when you transfer your new puppy.

The Regs booklets are very recent & are updated yearly. There was a lot of publicity at the time they were brought out there is now this

I've never bothered to get a copy myself but it was two KC members I asked to look for me in this specific case (and that's pretty much the only use I've had for red rule book in 30 years)

The KC should have their rules on the website, just as other clubs do.

I tend to keep up to date, but that is one bit of publicity I obviously missed ;)
