Topic Dog Boards / General / Whats best for floor/carpet cleaning for puppy accidents?

Hello :)

Ive got my Guide Dog puppy walking homecheck next Tuesday, so its possible (if I pass obviously lol) that I may have a small pup come to live with me for a bit quite soon.

Ive had dogs for a long time now, and Alfie is only 2 and half but we are past the toilet training stage with him.  However it is possible that there will be the odd accident with a new puppy at least in the beginning.  I used to use Simple Solution (quite expensive) or Vanish carpet foam (didnt really sink into the carpet).  Ive tried using biological washing powder but it made my slate and vinyl kitchen floor really slippery for some reason.  You know how jeyes fluid cuts through everything outdoors on the patio, and makes everything feel squeaky clean, I could do with something like that indoors!!!!

I just wondered if there was anything that had come onto the market that was good and worked to get all traces gone!  You can tell I was in the Brownies....be prepared lol

It's possible you weren't diluting the Biological washing powder enough ;)

I use the liquid Bio Wash, own brand cheapest/value - about a tablespoon to a litre of warm water and spray it on after mopping up any urine/faeces and rinsing with water - I actually put it in the simple spray bottle LOL  Leave for a few minutes and then wipe with paper towels followed by a spray of vinegar and another wipe down.  I never diluted the vinegar - just used the really cheap stuff ;)  No residue or stickiness on my indoor laminates.

Outside on the concrete yard and paved patio I use Bio wash liquid, two capfuls in a watering can, leave it for half and hour then rinse - keeps both squeaky clean and not slippery at all.  But I do alternate with bleach ;)

maybe you could try it on a small corner first before committing yourself ?

I used mistral odor kill stuff on my karndean vinyl flooring so there was always an air of peardrops or bubblegum.  It left the floors clean and smelling sweet.

Ive done a bit of research on here as well....so Ive ordered some Orange scented Mistral from Ebay :)

Thankyou everyone.

It's great stuff.  I use it on floors, in the washing machine, mist it on worktops etc etc
