i am planning my very 1st litter for this time next year and will be asking you folks loads of questions lol.  can you tell me what the worming regime is for a pregnant bitch? thankyou Donna.

We will all have our favourite regimes.  I use Panacur 10% and start a pregnant bitch at day 40 until 2 days post whelping.  This ensures pups are born 98% worm free.

Pups then get a 3 day course at 14 days, again at 5 weeks, and then 8 weeks.  Any pups staying are given a 3 day course at 11 weeks.

My girls are wormed with Drontal Plus just before mating, then not again until the pups are wormed at 3,5,7 weeks, the pups are then wormed with Drontal Puppy suspension, one dose one day every 2 weeks.

Unfortunately we were unlucky enough to have had a bad experience with Panacur, so tend to avoid it, but this isn't the same with all as many people use it without problems.

Never had a pup with worms (yet) :)

thanks for the replies, its funny that when you get a puppy and worm it, you dont see the worms in their poo anymore, wormers must work dirrerently nowadays.

I don't think it's so much that they work differently nowadays.  More likely that people are far more worm savvy than they ever were in the old days.

Modern womers work on larval as well as adult stages so you would only see (and I have in a rescue litter) adult worms, so if worming is done well the larval stages will be unseen in the poo.

Can someone remind me, I am worming my pups on panacur 10%, they are 2 weeks old.  Do I worm their mum as well, the same time?  A full adult 1 day dose with panacur paste?
Thank you

I don't do Mum  until the last worming when the pups are leaving, but my bitches continue to clean up after their pups during the first worming (so ingesting much of their does) ,and i have wormed them when they came in season and during pregnancy, and prefer not to load her system with any more chemicals.
