- By lesleybuck [gb] Date 26.08.09 19:16 UTC
thx
- By JeanSW Date 26.08.09 20:25 UTC
Well, you won't be going to bed tonight, that's for sure!!  :-)  :-)

Perfectly normal for a bitch to whelp successfully up to 7 days early, so no problem there.

If she needs to go outside for a wee, she could give birth out there, put her on a lead, and take a torch.

Milk on some bitches takes a couple of days to come in, so don't worry.

- By JeanSW Date 27.08.09 22:06 UTC
Once a bitch is dilated, I would never leave them over 4 hours before rushing off to the vet for help.

- By lesleybuck [gb] Date 28.08.09 15:26 UTC
well about half hour ago she was layed out on her side n we could see the pups moving low down near  her bottom end that way down lol and she tenced up and jumped up looked at me as if to say wats happening lol she just got up and went for yet anouther diarrea poo i rung vets they told me to hang back and let her be
- By briedog [gb] Date 28.08.09 15:46 UTC
if she straining for more than 2 hours get her to the vet if there no pup after this time
- By JeanSW Date 28.08.09 16:31 UTC
What you are describing indicates contractions have started.  She isn't necessarily trying to wee!  The last bitch I saw do this needed a C-section because contractions are too weak.  The diahorrea is natural, her bowels emptying ready for birth.  I would start worrying about inertia just about this very minute, and wouldn't be on a forum.

- By Gemini05 Date 01.09.09 17:54 UTC
as briedog says, it sounds normal. My girl spent the last few days doing just that, everytime she woke up, i thought it was time as she would pant and stare, but then she would go back to sleep again! :) my girl has had her jitters normally late evening when the house is quieter, be sure to be with her at all times, and i am sure she will be a mummy soon x :)
- By db [gb] Date 01.09.09 18:13 UTC
our first bitch we bred from was panting constantly for 24 hours before the first puppy appeared :-) It drove us all nuts :-) Our second bitch only panted about 10 times in 24 hours and we had our first puppy! I guess all mums to be are different (just like us humans)
- By lesleybuck [gb] Date 01.09.09 18:15 UTC
not sure wheather she is avin contractions i can still c pups moving alot when she on her side she is just so strange but also theres no milk cumin from her teats but i have been told this can b norm with it being her first litter it will cum just after birth wish it wud cum she looks so peed off lol also she as been losing discarge 4 a bout 5days now evy time she as a wee
- By briedog [gb] Date 02.09.09 07:40 UTC
if the puppy are moving that great just before they are born 24 hour or more they settel down abit, before birth on the movement.
as for the milk dont worry my gollie didnt have milk in untill she give birth on both two litter but this litter she due any time she got milk in two weeks ago,
gollie yesterday was on day 57 he started to have a mucus clear discharge to it when you see a string of it that some time give it away 24 hours to birth,
but hey the dogs dont read the text book and each bitch is different,
like i say if she had them by 65 day just get her check out by the vet.
gollie had her both on day 60
brie had her on day 56 and 52.
wispa must have read the book day 63
- By lesleybuck [gb] Date 02.09.09 07:49 UTC

- By briedog [gb] Date 02.09.09 08:04 UTC

- By lesleybuck [gb] Date 02.09.09 08:57 UTC
the vet has just rung to c how she is how nice was that with vets calculations its either day 63 or day 60 with the 2 matings we did so any dat really they told me to wait keep an eye on her if nowt happens after wend then take her down on monday
- By lesleybuck [gb] Date 02.09.09 10:13 UTC
her temp is 37.4 this morning ?
- By white lilly [gb] Date 02.09.09 13:46 UTC
our girl went down to 36.3 12h before she started to whelp but that dont always mean every dog will go that low ,it just depends what her temp was to start with .
- By Blue Date 02.09.09 17:29 UTC
It will generally go a bit lower but if you plot it or take note 3 times a day ( every 8 hours) you will see the steady but obvious fall .

It is generally generally a bit lower in the morning. If you measure correctly the prolonged drop you are looking for will be obvious.   All dogs do have the drop so do humans in whelp :-)
- By LoisLane Date 02.09.09 18:36 UTC

- By snomaes [gb] Date 04.09.09 13:40 UTC
<<she lost her mucas plug 2 days ago took her to vet today and she is dilating>>

This was on the 26th (8 days ago) if your vet was right then I would be rather concerned by now.

Have you seen a temperature drop and can you still see  puppy movements?
- By lesleybuck [gb] Date 04.09.09 14:05 UTC
yes all the pups still moving took her temp for last 2 days its been 37.4 thats 99 its not moved the vet is not concerned i can only go by wat the vet says she is going back to the vets on monday after weekend
