Topic Dog Boards / Health / Are these hot spots??

After reading the post for treatment of hotspots I wondered if this is what my springers have.

The male has an area on the top of his front paw and one on the back paw the size of a 20 pence which he nibbles at  - not constantly but does make them wet. They are not bright red but it is a bald patch and the skin looks thickened. He has had these for some time and i have tried anti itch cream, given him piriton and used a hibiscrub shampoo  (prob not regular enough) but he still has them.

Today i noticed on my bitch springer she has come up with 2 on the same foot but they are smaller. Again its round bald patches.

Would these be hot spots???

Doesn't really sound like it to me. Hot spots are also called wet excema and they tend to be just that -very wet, often very large, dripping with fluid/pus and very red. I'd be slightly worried about ringworm, especially as you have two dogs with the same. Best check with the vet to play safe.
