Sorry I don't have an answer to this but a question...

I don't know the term 'scatter' as you are using it.  Does 'scatter' in this context mean to dry up milk in a lactating bitch?  If so, how does Epsom Salt (magnesium sulfate) achieve this?

(I always thought Epsom Salts were most commonly used in baths, and ingested only as a laxative!)

That's how it dries up milk - it causes diarrhoea which dehydrates the bitch, meaning she doesn't have enough body fluid to make milk. Not a method I'd choose.

Oooh that sounds horrible, not something I would do either, isn't it dangerous?

What a horrible thing to do!!! I am aghast that someone would do this to their girl!!!

Why on earth would you want to do this?!?!

Thanks for the info Jeangenie, I'd done a Google search but couldn't see what she meant.  Have to confess I love to check up on words I don't know and 'scatter' in this context was a new one on me, although I'm sure there is a similar expression re souring milk...

Perhaps the OP doesn't know what other methods to use - what do you or others suggest as the the most effective and kindest way?

bitches milk will dry up within a week after not feed puppies,

let nature take it place with the bitch instead of plumbing salts into her that could dehdrates her and may cause kidnery problem

Leaving the bitch to naturally wean her pups and dry up gradually as she does so. It's never failed for me so far, despite keeping a pup from each litter and not separating mum from pups - by 10 weeks the bitch has always been completely dry.

Ditto JG.  Can confirm that bitches have been dry by 12 weeks as that is the point at which I have my girls spayed after their last litters.
