Topic Dog Boards / General / Brampton (CA8) - anyone live around this area?

Looking for good suggestions for dog walks in the area - nowhere near sheep please! Can anyone help?

Just want to say good luck.

We were there on Saturday to walk a section on Hadrian's Wall nearby (Banks Turret) and from our elevated position saw that nearly every field had sheep in it!!  All the footpaths seemed to have strongly worded notices about keeping dogs on a lead so it must be prime sheep country.  Beautiful for sure but hilly and with sheep :)

Talkin Park (2 miles south of Brampton) might be suitable.  We changed our minds about going there but perhaps a local can tell you.

** Just found this site which may be of help

A couple in/near Cockermouth (depends how far you're willing to travel):

Setmurthy woods between Cockermouth/Embleton
Spout force near whinlatter
Whinlatter forest
Dodd wood near skiddaw

All forestry commission land so no sheep and good access.  Sorry can't really be of much help further North.

I'm thinking about entering a couple of cats into a cat show at Brampton.  And during the time all exhibitors get kicked out whilst judging is on (So much more fair!) I usually go and walk the dogs for 2-3 hours.    The Foresty Commision site has given me a wood 20+km away but I wondered if anything was closer and Driving With Dogs now wants a fee before they will give you details of walks!

I have no idea whatsoever of the area so I need some suggestions.  How far are the above forests away from Brampton?

Sorry, bit too far for your needs I think... I thought Brampton was this side of Carlisle for some reason.  I hope you find somewhere.
