My Bordeaux has a lovely habit of rolling in things, especially if it is poo. I was out on the field this morning with her, my 4 year old and also my 15 week old puppy, all of whom were off the lead. I saw the Bordeaux and the puppy sniffing in some bushes or so I thought. I went over to see what they were doing. The bordeaux was covered in poo all over her neck and the puppy had it all round her mouth... Yes she had been eating it!!! Yuk!! From the way they smelled when we got them home, hubby seemed to think it was fox poo. Is there anything I might need to watch out for regarding the puppy eating this vile stuff?!

i don't know if there are more things than this but you can get worms as far as i know. if you worm the dogs on a regular basis then you be fine.
dogs love fox poo and mine can't get enough of it, if they find any. it must be the worst smell going and only a good bath will get rid of that.
no treat is better than any animal poo we find on walks and i've never had any problems with them eating it etc dogs do horrible things some times.

Merlot too had a lovely smelly roll in some fox poo this morning! yuck!!
Baby wipes are great to carry on walks I find they work really well on fox poo (Similar constituency to babies!!...poo that is ;) ;) ) and do get rid of the smell a good bit before having to come home in the car with Eue-de-fox! air freshener!!!

lovely... although I must say that fox poo is preferable to a whole dead fox, which my bitch (who really is a bitch) once found and rolled in.  I'd recommend tomato juice for getting rid of the smell (if you haven't already managed to).  Not sure if there's anything you need to watch out for, but it's been my bitch's favourite hobby since she was 11 weeks and she's been fine...

Thanks for this. I'm used to the big ones rolling in and eating various poos and dead things - I find horse poos and even human poos (we walk by the canal sometimes and the boaters are disgusting) are their favourites! I can cope with the smell etc... I was just worried about my baby!! Her worming is kept up to date so she should be fine.

I cannot get Whistler past horse pooh if I drag him off he's gobbling it up as he goes. The park very near our office, thats my wet morning walk, I have to keep him on the lead past the pony paddock then let him loose. Just out of spite yesterday he found all the grass clipping pile and rolled in that all wet!! never ever buy a show cocker again, short haired anything!! but a show cocker never. I keep a comb in my car to give him a quick comb before he gets into the car.

Fox pooh is Jake's fav we carry tomato sauce in sachets to give him a quick rub cuts the smell but he turns into a black and pink BC! very fetching.

Know why they call it dog breath as well.

Don't you think if they get the idea that you're going to take them away from it they take extra large mouthfuls?! Why oh why do we put ourselves through it?! Lol!

The worst is when they eat poo and then vomit it up on your sofa afterwards.   My older dog did this when she was a pup: she was my first dog and I had no idea dogs did such vile things!  OH was retching too much to clean it up.  Guess who had to do the honours?

Yes like a child quick grab it were leaving!! the fresher the better. When he rolls I get to work, Jack (Storeman) gives me a bucket Im cleaning him up in the yard and hosing him off. Whilst wearing half decent clothes and shoes. All day when he sits under my desk I can smell him, when we get home its "Baffies" and he slinks into my pink bathroom for a bath and shower!!! smellie little pain in the nether regions.
By the time you have cleaned the bathroom had a shower you are to wacked for anything else.. Love him to bits though!!

My brother had a huge huge dog called Bear, he was always travel sick, one day he put his 3 kids in the car and Bear and off to visit my Mum. Kids would have been 1,3 &5 then.  One said "look Dad Bear's brought his dinner!". Well Kev could do bums but not sick and he drove all the way throwing up from the window. Future trips Bear stayed at home.

Errr!!! Can you imagine?!

Now I come to think of it, hubby has been getting on my nerves recently... Maybe I should get her to french kiss him!! Lol!!
- By suejaw Date 27.08.09 13:33 UTC
The ides of anyone french kissing their dogs repulses me let alone the thought that they had eaten poo as well

My boy wouldn't come into the house and played about outside in the fields, well i have now paid for it as he is wafting the smell into other rooms... I love foxes but not what they excrete.. yuk...
I'm having a BBQ tom and this smell has to go before then, don't have time to bath him, so hoping he can roll the smell off before then himself..
Merlot can i borrow your babywipes?

Ketchup was the old favourite for getting rid of skunk stink, which is the worst for sheer vile penetrating stench, until a product called Skunk Off came along...excellent stuff

We had a similar problem, dogs are very attracted to fox poo.  The cheapest shampoo from the smell is washing-up-liquid.  Something to do with the texture of fox poo, my mum has used it for years and it does work.

SKUNK OFF ! when I next go to USA I must get me some of that!!!
- By suejaw Date 08.09.09 13:42 UTC

>Skunk Off

Can you get that from their pet stores, like PetCo and other places?
- By Whistler [gb] Date 08.09.09 13:49 UTC
I'd keep it by the front door for unwanted politicians asking for my vote!:-P
