We are looking forward to our new GR pup due to come and live with us in 5weeks time.
We have thought of lots of names but nothing has made us go ...wow...any names would be lovely please.
Our other goldie is called emma so nothing to close to that please.
Oh yes she is a little girl...nearly forgot that bit.

I got a westie puppy 5 weeks ago id chosen maggie or hope for her. When i brought her home completely changed my mind to Sophie. Its fun tho thinking of names. Good luck with your puppy when you get her

I'd wait until the little person comes home and looks like a .......... ******* she will fill in the blanks :-)
Picking a name without her may not suit at all :-)
We had a Bianca who got called 'Wikkle' when she grew on us, similarly a Lola who became 'Podge'.
...don't ask!

Your right jeanniedean it is fun choosing names...but we cant agree on a name we all like.
Im hoping for some new inspiriation for some new names.
Hi Christine, yes sorry i guess that may sound a bit strange.
We work and trial our dogs and the golden retrievers that we see mainly in the field are a very dark red/ginger colour.Nothing like the pale yellow golden.

I love mallow might keep that in mind when I get a new dog

sherbert
Emma is a traditional name so i think you need something along the same lines. sophie, pheobe, dolcie???

Yes Lorripop thats the way we have been going...my hubbys favorite is sophie but im not so sure...i like ruby but my dad said if i call her ruby he wont speak to me again lol.
I also like milly-holly-tara. As you say they are quite traditional names.

Well, the kitten I have here that goes to her new home tomorrow is called Dora, after Dora the Explorer and it was so apt, as she is into everything! Suits her down to the ground. Her siblings are Oliver & Emily!
Hi Goldie,
What about WHISPER,cos maybe Molly whispered about her to you. [you never know]
Im so thrilled for you and maybe the recent pain will be eased a little.
Regards Jonelle.

My 'bitch name list' has Cilla, Wilma, Doris, Audrey and Morag near the top :-D

I always like to go for a name that means something to me, my first bernese was Vanya the meaning of this came about as she was born in the back of a van, her mum was going to have a cersarian and delivered on the way to the vets, the ya on the end was bercause of there swiss origin.
My boy is called Logan, when we got him we lived in a house called Loganberry farm so thats rather self explanitry, although because he's so gorgeous and fluffy most people call him logeybear.

I ve got a whispa the weird spelling came because we ran out of space allowed by the kc with his full kc name

I am so pleased about your new puppy :) and what a dilemma, choosing a name...... ah the joy and happiness this little puppy is going to bring you :) just let us all know what you decide to call her, I am sure you will choose the perfect name that suits her :)
edited to add, I just wanted to say when I lost my gorgeous 3 year old golden boy Spangler, very soon after we had our new boy Jasper and he really helped put a smile back on my face :)

I did read about your spangler sometime ago...and im very sorry..so sad..just like my molly they were to young to die.
Im sure we will get our new baby a lovely name soon....i may let my hubby have his wish this time of SOPHIE...but only maybe.
Old fashioned Dora,Milly, Dot, (friends rottie is Audrey),Lilly, Rose, Violet, Sarah, Jennie, Sadie, Sophia rather than Sophie, Salma, Rosie, Loren, Laura, laurel, May, Blossom, Skye, Sally, I think you will know her name when she gets home.

Jallow Kallie Besie Belle Maud or Bronte All the best whatever shes called then :-)

Daisy, Poppy, Lily,Maddie, lila? so much fun choosing a name! :)

Loving this thread, I am looking for a new name for my puppy (2.5 weeks old at mo lol).
As kids we had a pekingnese, Mitzy, who ended up being called "Mitzy-Doodlebug-n-Moppenhead" by the kids....and our cat, Tammy, was "Tammy-Tomkin-pro-ha-pro-ha-Cat". Made sense to us and really suited them! We recently had a beautiful white persian cat who (according to the kids) just HAD to be Princess Candyfloss (sadly she died young of FIP, fond memories of her). And now we have Teddy who is Teddy Boy, Teddy-Boy-Darling, Teddy Von TedTed, it goes on!! Good luck with choosing her name, bet she'll make it easy for you when you get her home x
> Ruby for a yellow coloured dog?
hmmm.. .. now that got me to pondering. How about a name based on colour. I'm thinking.... flowers.... (if you're into girly girly names, etc).
Something unusual like Daffodil (Dill for short or is that too masculine?), Narcissus (Cissy for short), Primula, and of course Buttercup (moo cow ish?) lol
I'd agree though and hang on until you meet pupster for the first time. I was going to call our most recent addition Dexter until I saw his KC reg'd name, and changed it to Alphonso as this was one of Rudolph Valentino's given names (Alfie for short, KC name Tigerbull Valentino).

angel or star
We picked loads of names for my CS then when we picked him his kennel name was "Whistler in the wind" and across his back was a big "W", so Whistler he is and always was. Where OH got "Jake" from (BC) I dont know but it suits him.

Saffron
Hmmn new to this but is GR - golden retriever?
How about Duffy - after glamorous blonde singer (obviously not an option if you are not a fan). I also like old fashioned names Maudie, Edie, Lily etc and clever names (some might say pretentious names but hey) like Pandia Pandia (Greek Goddess) Her name meant "All Bright" and she was the Goddess of the Brightness, especially the Sun.
I called my spaniel pup Hector which is of greek origin and means steadfast (I am hoping he lives up to the name)
Whatever you call her she will still be the sunshine in your day!

Yes thats right Golden Retriever.
Welcome to CDs and thanks for your suggestions of names.
> Saffron
oooh yes! I like that one. Saffy darling (Ab Fab!! lol).
yes Ruby, obviously not because of the colour! because I
like the name!
Having just seen someones user name on here I now want a dog called JUNO
I'm not planning another just yet and haven't thought about a girl, but... I still want a Juno, gorgeous name :)
Good luck with yours - I always get touch of puppy nostalgia when anyone talks about their new one arriving. By the time they're telling us about sleepless nights, howling, and puppy pee my "broodyness" (prob no such word!) has worn off. Phew
How about Myrtle.
I love it. :-)
