Must admit, it's BIG over here of course. I have become quite patriotic over the last few weeks! lol

I don't mind watching most sports on TV though to be honest. Though... ahem it's FOOTBALL fellow Australians... not soccer :-) (kidding!).

Cricket - even 5-day test matches - is waaaaaaay more exciting than any reality TV or talent contest!

I love watching Cricket but unfortunately it was one game I could never master, that said I find it much more interesting than football but perhaps that is because we did not play "soccer" at school. As far as dog showing is concerned is it a sport or a hobby? Or is that another thread? :-)

I would think anything with a competitive element would e sport, off to consult dictionary.

I would consider sports a sub group of hobbies.

Well Free dictionary definitions that apply:

Sport
1.
a. Physical activity that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often engaged in competitively.
b. A particular form of this activity.
2. An activity involving physical exertion and skill that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often undertaken competitively.
3. An active pastime; recreation.

I would consider showing dogs (it's more Active as Bowls or Golf), and especially Agility and Freestyle/Heelwork to Music, Obedience etc as 'Sport' as all include activity.

hobby
n hobby [ˈhobi]
something a person enjoys doing (usually frequently) in his/her spare time and not for pay Stamp-collecting is a popular hobby.

I have been driving OH mad all weekend as I kept checking the score / listening to the radio etc :). A series like this is why test cricket is so brilliant even when you know England should win and the aussies would have had to set a new record to win when Ponting and Hussey were batting I was on the edge of the seat wondering if they would do it. Nothing can beat test cricket for that sort of excitment :)

Whoop whoop whoop!! Well done England, who'd have though it! :)
