Just wondered if anyone has had any experiance of this with one of their dogs?

My 10 month old is in the vets at the moment with a temp of 41.2 they have x-rayed his lungs and suspect lungworm, his temp is not coming down and his poor heart is racing, but they are doing thier best.
He is on fluids and all kinds of treatment .
I do know the outcome if not all goes well but just wondered if you lot had experianced it before.

Only in a pup I bred 6 years ago.

Five years ago the owner got her spayed and queried with me as to when she would feel better as she was very tired and not herself.  This rang alarm bells as spaying should have had little or no effect on her general bounciness and stamina which appeared to be zero.

She had Strongylus heart/lungworm which she had picked up from eating snails.  They are in the Home counties where it was getting a hold according to her vets.

It would seem that this parasite has spread around the country.

The treatment was Panacur given daily over a week, and then every month.

Good news my pups temperture has dropped , and responding to treatment well and he should be coming home tomorrow.

But the vet did say that it has spead round the country like wildfire, especially south wales , cornwall, devon and somerset.

Very interesting Blue, as my vet mentioned this to me this week when we were in for boosters. He mentioned Advocate specifically, and so am printing this off to give to him :)

Panacur was the treatment of choice in the case of the pup I bred.
