Some of you may remember that we had to come straight back home on the first day of our holiday as Barney swallowed a sponge and needed an operation to remove it.
We put in a claim to our pet insurance provider for the cost of the vet fees, and for the cancelled holiday. I've just found out that they are sending a cheque for the vet fees, but only for half of the cost of the holiday as they are saying they will only reimburse the cost of the policyholder's holiday. This seems like a bit of a weasel clause to me: there was no option to insure the dog in joint names, and I had just assumed that the policy would work like household contents insurance where the policy is in one person's name but everyone in the household is covered. There is nothing in the policy which says only the policyholder's, rather than the household's, holiday costs will be covered. In any case, it was a holiday that was paid for solely by myself and not by my partner. Does anyone have any thoughts on whether it would be worth appealing this?
