Evening folks, hope you've enjoyed the sunshine today.  I know I have by taking my dog out for 3 walks today.  He's seems to be coping well with his blindness.  Anyway, back to my topic, I read somewhere that feeding garlic is good for keeping fleas away.

What's the best way to feed it?  Do I use pearls or the real mccoy?  I don't think he'll take to eating a clove of garlic myself lol

love

Glad he is enjoying his walks.

We used to feed garlic capsules but have now changed to the garlic granules that are for horses as it works out so much cheaper !

I will admit now we have put a scoop in our dinner when we can't be bothered to cut some fresh garlic :-D

Dorwest herbs do a garlic supplement.I have heard that too much garlic can be toxic so may be safer to give a ready made supplement.
Saying that i've fed them garlic for years and it's not caused a problem.

well havnt heard that it keeps fleas away, but it is good for dogs any way.

the real thing can only be the best. get a clove and chop it up as fine as humanly possible and then add it to teh dogs food.
it will be better to add slowly, but once a week would do or even once a month.

i found one of the big food stores do frozen garlic in a packet. it is already cut into very small bits. i sprinkle a small amount on my dogs food a couple of times a week. they seem to like it. it is said that it keeps ticks and fleas away.

I give both my dogs a clove of garlic most days crushed onto one of their meals, one seems to like the taste more than the other so as long as it is hidden in the food there shouldn't be a problem getting them to eat it.
