i just wanted to share a copy of an email i received yesterday and my reply.

Hi Mell...my name is ******* and I am know in kennel club terms as ****** . I've delivered a good many of my babies to loving homes in the Cayman Islands, and other people's too. I currently have 2 golden retrievers, a bull terrier, a yellow lab and a yorkie puppy being prepared for delivery to their new vetted families on the island...and I've been asked to find and purchase just the right male ******* puppy for a gentleman by the name of Julian. He has seen the pic of your puppy and is very taken with him. There is no kennel club over there so he will not be shown, but Julian would like him to sire one litter with the only bitch on the island.
I had real trouble finding anyone to foster the bull terrier, so one of the questions is whether you would be prepared to keep him for Julian for a foster fee and food costs and vet costs until he is ready to be delivered at the end of October, and bring him to me just before we fly. If your answer to this is yes...and he is a pure ******,,,he has both testicles...and no obvious problems at this time in his development then I think Julian will purchase him. The money will be transferred to me within 2 days of his saying yes, and I can then send it straight to you

My reply was:
Hi , thanks you your enquiry, unfortunatly i don't export any of my puppies. sorry

The reply was:

Thank you for your reply...however, I wasn't aware I had asked you to export a puppy.  The query was how you would feel about my accompanying your puppy to a life with a loving and experienced family in a British Protectorate in the West Indies...where all pets have to be imported from the UK only.

The puppies travel in more comfort than I do, and arrive with tails wagging...which is more than I can say for me. I could have just bought him and had him fostered until he was ready to go...but I know how important it is to me to know where my puppies go and have updates on their welfare. Believe me, these puppies are adored. By the time they reach their destination they have cost their owners almost 4 times the puppy's purchase price.

I visit these families at least once a year, and Veronique, the importer, does so much more often. And we encourage the new owners to send us pics and updates that we can forward on to the breeders.

This is an honest and legitimate enquiry from a pair of breeders living on 2 sides of the Atlantic, with an order from a family desperate for a male *****, living on an island where there aren't any.

Again i replied:

Hi
Sorry i misunderstood you, i thought you were asking me to send a puppy accompanied by you to another country, in the dictionary the defination of export is

:Definition of export (noun)
something sent to another country (as i am aware although the Caymen island may be under british rule it is not within this country), usually for sale
No matter what conditions my pups live in i do not export and for good measure all of my puppies are endorsed NOT FOR BREEDING. now would kindly ask you do not contact me any further.

Thank you

Mell

I wouldn't dream of letting a puppy go to a dealer but others might be taken in by this
