Hi  i have a white boxer 5 years of age she was diagnosed as having a yeast allergy symptoms are dark brown discharge from one ear , chewing of her paws constantly.

I have been using Malaseb to control this allergy but was wandering if there are any other solutions creams shampoos ect that would treat this yeast allergy.

Thanks in advance

Not had any of my dogs suffer from this but i would be looking at what you are feeding your dog and making sure its a grain free diet.

I would definately look at food.   See if it is anything in her enviroment IE grass etc.

One word of caution Malaseb used a lot on the feet etc can be a bit harsh,  hibiscrub is a slightly gentler and good for yeasty type flare ups I believe.

Someone recently told me about a cream called Eumovate that can be bought over the counter.   Supposed to be excellent for what you describe.

You could try Nizoral shampoo which can be bought at chemist counters. It is a human anti dandruff shampoo and serves as an anti fungal. I have used this in the past along with Hibiscrub (which is an antimicrobial).

I previously had a westie bitch with very bad skin. Her coat tended to get very greasy. I found that malaseb didn't get the grease out so I had to bath her first with something like Johnson's puppy shampoo. I used Nizoral and Hibisrub on her and they did help. Plus they are easily bought over the counter so can be easily obtained even when the vet is shut.

Chewing of paws can indicate an allergy to grass.

I know people who's dogs have different allergies and they use Camrosa ointment or Dermacton, also recall someone on here with BM'S i think saying that they used the combination for someone on their dog and it cleared it up.

My 4 year old ACS has suffered with yeast infections and allergies for the last three years.  We've been backwards and forwards to the vets - AB's and steroids, bathing , changing diet etc.  Have tried Camrosa which worked for a while then didn't do anything for her.   I was reading one of my daughters horsey mags and came across a product called Stop It All

http://www.karenruggles.co.uk/

It's a shampoo and semi solid salve, bathing every four days and applying the salve daily and within 24 hours it had started to clear up - and she was covered in "scabs".  I tried it on some that were just starting and they went within a day.  I also got her some probiotic capsules from the same lady and the effects are (so far) amazing.  It stinks to high heaven but as long as the poor thing isn't scratching I'm happy.

If you ring her, she'll advise you.  It's all natural.
