Has anyone tried introducing a cat chasing Dobermann to a cat? I have two cats & 2 dogs living with me that have to be seperated via a dog gate but I'd love them to live in harmony like the dog/cat/mouse advert where they all lie in front of the fire kissing each other! (Not the mouse though)

Any suggestions? Or am I, once again, hoping for a miracle!

Hoping for a miracle I reckon :D :D

My Mock is absolutely incapable of understanding that the cats are NOT to be chased and on the few occasions, that he doesn't chase them, he just barks incessantly at them. And the cats goad him like crazy and then swipe at him when he approaches. I have resigned myself to the fact that they are all trying to make my life as difficult as possible and generally hope that the cats just stay upstairs and the dog downstairs, but do separate them by a dog gate so the cats can disappear upstairs !!! When I go out, the dog is confined to the kitchen and the kitchen is giving a thorough check beforehand that the cats are not in there with the dog....

Sorry to give you this info, we've had the dog for almost a year and people always told me they would at least learn to tolerate each other, but so far, I've not seen any evidence of this

Ditto
Our cat took to living upstairs beyond the realm of the stair gate -shame really cos he was here first
unfortunatley he got run over in july so we don't have the problem any more :(

Hi Lady G - I must have been extremely lucky. When I introduced an 8 week old kitten to my then 4 yr old Dobermann bitch, ( now sadly deceased ) she, after a few hours allowed this kitten to suckle on her teats. She had no milk, had never been bred and had been spayed after her first season. She mothered it for weeks and the kitten loved it!! Never could figure that one out!!!!

Ah ha! Then the answer is - Hugo must have a sex change and I shall swap the cats for little kittens who want to suckle!

Right - does anyone know of a vet who does dobermann sex changes??!!

LOL
