Hi

My bitch was mated on the 4th of this month and the 6th of this month bot with a tie, she has been checked by the vet with regartds to infection and is clear, she is now losing a small amount of Opaque/tinged liquid from her vulva, can anyone tell me if this is a good sign she may be in pup?

thank you

10 days is way too early to know either way.

Hi Tracie, all of our bitches have had the opaque discharge when in pup, however we have had a bitch miss before and she also had the discharge so i don't think it's a reliable sign either way.We go by the nipples as a first sign, usually about 3 and a half weeks they darken or pinken around the base and there may be hair loss around the base as well, but it's all very subtle.
Fingers crossed for you.

Hi Bucksmum

thanks again for the help! we are all very excited, but think we all need a level head to wait and see, but i will keep you infomed if i am to be come a grandma, her demeaner has changed she is a lot quieter than usual and very cuddly, but again we will have to keep the fizzing bubbles at bay for now

bye for now

HI Tracie,

I have the same, my bitch was bred on 4th Aug, I noticed a yellow tinged discharge yesterday (never noticed this with my previous bitches) it was there again today.  She is very well in herself but not as lively as usual and like you say very cuddly, I have also noticed that her vulva is still quite swollen and her nipples are firmer, could be wishful thinking though!  I am concerned about the discharge as I was under the impression this came at about 4 weeks and should be clear.  I will take her to the vet on Monday unless anyone knows that this is normal in early pregnancy??

I'll let you know how I get on.  Good luck with your girl, if we are both lucky they should be due at the same time!

Hi Bernie,

we have 6 bitches and every one of them has the discharge you describe around the end of season whether they have been mated or not. When pregnant we have noticed it pretty much all through and they have been swabbed and have no sign of infection.
Just wanted to let you know in case the vet try to rush you onto a course of antibiotics that MAY not be neccessary.Fingers crossed your girl is in whelp.

Funny you should say that, she didn't stop bleeding during ovulation (I had premate done at teh vet, so know that she ovulated the day before mating) and carried on bleeding for another 5 days so this may be the normal end of her season...I think I will still get her checked.

my bitch is fine my step dad is a vet and he has looked at it and said it is fine.

Thanks Bucksmum,

That is reassuring, I never had this with my last bitch and I think the more you read the more worried you start to get!!!  I do hope she is in whelp, another week and I will be able to get a scan...I hate this looking for signs but I can't help myself!!!

Cheers

Hi Bernie

thanks for the reply, she is still very loving and cuddly more so she waits at the bottom of the stairs for me when i go upstairs and waits for me to come down on a morniing! which she never ever has before she has always been a bit kind of well i will love you when i want girl! but its lovely so i can not complain, yes if they are both in whelp we will be granparents together LOL, i will keep you informed when i have taken her to the vet but not for another two weeks so i have been advised, but please if you have any news on your girl let me know

i will keep all crossed for you

best regards

I was going to take Cassie today about the discharge but she didn't have any yesterday and just a tiny amount today...so I am just going to monitor her...my vet scans at 21 days, so she is booked in for a week on Wednesday.  Sounds like your girl has some positive signs going on there!!! Cassie is definitely a lot calmer than usual on her runs..she doesn't seem to have as much energy to burn and her teats are looking very big at the back...or is this just wishful thinking!! She hasn't gone off her food or been sick...god doesn't time drag!!!!

I'll let you know the result next week...good luck as well!!

Hi Bernie

I too will be taking my girl Lolly to the vet on her 21st day so here's hoping, i have no patience at all and you would think it was me who may be pregnant the way i am clucking round her, she is my baby who is loved very much, if she isnt then its just one of those things if she is then i will proberbly burst LOL

I am taking it one day at a time as you cant hurry these things, just keep on counting the days off the Calender :)

and your right about time it goes quick when you dont want it to and slow when you do LOL

Your right..I don't remember being this aprehensive when I was pregnant!!!!
- By bernie [gb] Date 25.08.09 13:10 UTC
Whooppee...just had our scan and Cassie is definitely pregnant..I had it done at the vet and he could see 6 pups, he said that is the minimum she has, as they are very small and he may not have been able to seen them all.

Good luck Tracie, do let me know how you get on.
