My daughter in law does people's ironing.  A customer left 2 black bin liners full outside a house a couple of doors away from my daughters (should have been left at my DIL's.  On the same day a well known charity was collecting donations in that road, and we suspect that the collector has picked up these 2 bin liners (NOT IN THE OFFICIAL BAG) and they were not with an official bag.

My DIL has been in touch with the area manager who has been most unco-operative, virtually refusing to check on what was brought in that day.

Does anyone know whether the van drivers actually keep a record of bags picked up and from where ?(i.e. street or even house number)  if we know that then it would help her in her enquiries.

Sounds like bad luck to me.........if they were outside the house!
Something similar happened to my sister after Christmas.
She was flying back to London and a friend was driving via the ferry, friend was taking a black sack with various items in car, this include sisters Christmas presents and her various bits of 'sale shopping' new bedding and suchlike.
Friends daughter was gathering up items for a car boot sale and took bag!
Nobody realised until my sister got a call the day friend was leaving for the ferry!

I'm afraid i dont know, but common sense should have told the driver that if it wasnt in the recognised bags he shouldnt have picked it up?? or should have least checked it was meant for him.
If i ever leave clothes for charity that are not in the charities bags i ensure i put FOR THE ATTENTION OF .......... RCYCLED CLOTHES or something similar.
If your daughter knows what day it was the bags were picked up then it shouldnt be too difficult fo the charity to find an unmarked bag and check it for your DIL's stuff. Although if they are being uncooperative that isnt really going to help.

I can only go by the charity I worked for but frequently donations were left in carrier bags, black bags, the actual donation bags, boxes etc.   We only kept a record of how mnay bags the driver bought in, not a record of where they came from, it's just too time consuming.

Actual bone-fide charities are competing with 'rag collectors' who are supposedly collecting for no particular charity rather a collection of several charities, whereas they are actually taking clothes and selling to a rag merchant for their own gain & not a charity.

Thanks for your replies.  This is a well known charity and their local manager is being VERY un cooperative to say the least.
