Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / Allazine pyometra ???
- By FINNEGANSHOUSE Date 14.08.09 21:23 UTC
I have an almost four year old bitch, who has had a previous litter. Unfortunately the season after this litter there was an accident and she had the Allazine jab, we subsequently mated her in Feb of this year but no pregnancy.  I now have a problem of a generally unwell bitch, her temp was at 40.2 on tuesday, it came down to 39.6 by Weds, Thurs 38.8 and back upto 39.4 today. The vet has put her on antibiotics at the beginning of the week. She is still eating and drinking but you have to take the food and water to her she will not leave the sofa to help herself. Also she was weighed at 13.4kg on tuesday and is 13.9kg today, I have read up on pyometra as I had a sneaky suspicion that it could be this since having a failed mating. She has not shown any signs of discharge, although she does not seem to be walking comfortably, not limping or anything like that just generally walking as though things are very heavy.

Has anyone had experience of pyometra after allazine, or had pyometra present itself as above ??  She is back to the vets first thing monday morn for ultra sound and scan, but I am worried sick that this is a closed pyometra and she could deteriorate rapidly over the weekend.  My vet said that whippets are a very hormonal breed, so does anyone have any other ideas as to what this could be ??

if your worried then i would take her back to the vets first thing and say you want a scan done straight away, afterall with something as sinister as pyo its better to be safe than sorry.
