I am quitting my current job in just over a month and am planning to do some domestic cleaning in my local(ish) area , either temporarily , or for longer if it goes well.
Was really posting to see if you all think people would pay for a cleaner at the present time and if the following are what people would want done. Any other suggestions welcomed!
Hoovering , polishing , mopping , general bathroom and kitchen cleaning , interiors windows cleaned and ground floor exterior ones , upvc washed down ( including doors ), skirting boards and door frames cleaned.
Was thinking of charging £10 an hour and would use all my own cleaning products. Would using eco friendly products be an advantage?
Thanks , Kate

We've got an advert in our local shop for a "domestic goddess", there must certainly be a market for it! Eco friendly would certainly be an advantage - also you could have a look at making your own cleaning stuff (think "How Clean is your House").
Good luck!

Lots of people in my area have cleaners who do the same sort of work that you're looking to do and £10 per hour seems to be the norm. Sadly I am not one of them - I have to do it myself.

It shouldn't be any less that's for certain.
Good luck to you, I have done it before to tide me over and wouldn't hesitate to do it again either if necessary. However it is my dream that someday it can be me having mine done for me.
Karen :)
One of my friends does cleaning similar to what you are thinking of offering. Another service she offers is to take home any laundry and iron it. It may be some peoples idea of a nightmare :-) but she finds its easy money as she irons while watching tv or when the kids are in bed and the types of people who need a cleaner are the time of people who dont have the time for ironing either. Just thought id mention it as a possible sideline for you. :-)

Thank you everyone! Replies are more positive than i had thought they would be.
Freds mum - i don't suppose you'd know roughly how much you friend charges to do the ironing?

one of my friends did cleaning for some extra money and charged £7.50 an hour but that was a year ago. i also know someone else who pays £10 per hour for cleaning to be done.
sometimes it is better to charge a little less than others and get more work, depends on the demand for cleaners in your area.
I'm pretty sure she charges slightly less than her hourly rate for cleaning to do an hours ironing at home. HTH
