One of my woofs has got a high tempreture due to a infection , took him to the vet today and the vet gave him a metacam injection to bring his tempreture down plus a bottle of metacam to bring home for daily use also antibiotics.
Now has any one ever heard of metacam being used for tempreture? i can find no information on it for this only muscular and skelatol problems as i have used it before to my two oldies.

metacam (meloxicam) is just an NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug.) its used as a pain killer and anti-inflammatory for just about anything that needs it, much in the same way that we use paracetamol to bring down a fever, ease a head ache and help with lameness. We use it all the time in practice and it is pretty safe, although shouldn't be used if the animal has been vomiting.

yes my mums GR was given metacam to bring down her temperature...it worked too.

One of my boys was given a metacam jab 2 years ago when he suddenly ran a very high temp and he was right as rain within 12 hours, have never had any probs using metacam and am happy to use this whenever neccessary. HTH

Something to make your boy more comfortable and also help bring his temperature down, try a cold wet towel over his ears - hope he feels better soon.

As Metacam is an NSAID it is better compared to our Asprin and Brufen . As previously said , a pain-killer and anti-inflammatory .

I have a boy currently on antibiotics and Metacam, also due to an infection.  His whole demeanor changed in 24 hours.  The Metacam was brilliant for him, he looked so sorry for himself, and it obviously made him feel loads better.
