Has anyone used storage containers ie the ones for furniture and similar? I need to put some items of mine into storage, a couch, bookcase, and few boxes, wondering what the going rate is. Im in central scotland. Thanks.

I put some of my stuff into storage when I moved 2 years ago, and just got it back in June this year!   Place I used was called Storage King, they seem to have brances all over.  Had no problems with the facilities, but the charges kept growing!  The original deal was pay 3 months, get 4th month free (unit was £160 per month plus vat).   After just over a year got a call to say I had underpaid - that the deal was only for the first 3/4month period, not each one.  I argued this, and eventually they agreed it was the then managers fault, but from then on no free months fees!  They had a big staff turnover, I had to deal with 5 different managers in the time I was with them -moral of story, get whatever "move in" deals offered (they all try to beat each other) in writing with how long it lasts!

Hi, we are having an extension and also internal works and means moving the furniture around etc. We have a conservatory and sadly this is being dismantled ( i loved a lazy day in there in the spring sun) so we have no where for the furniture to go as we converted our garage a few years ago. Having looked into storage places i dont know if you have one by you but i found Armadillo (big yellow colour buildings) were good rates. we are paying £13 per week for storage and it says it is big enough for a 2 bedroom flat - they show you how to pack the stuff to make the most of the space - so enough storage space for the stuff we need to move out the way while the works are going on

A pal of mine used one last year during a house move and renovation. Cost her £5 a week and when packed properly, took everything from a one bedroom flat.
It would surprise you when you see how much stuff you can pack in there.

Jsut a thought, but depending on value etc of stuff you wanted to store I did find that the places who offer free standing containers were a lot cheaper than the purpose built places.
