Just noticed my Koda (black boy) has greying on his muzzle, he is 5 years old in a week, didnt expect it just yet (I feel a bit like I did when Chris (16) started shaving LOL) would you normally see it at this age? (all my previous dogs have been light coloured muzzles so not as noticable. His dad is still going strong at 17 (koda was from his last litter at 12!) and hope Koda follows suit :-)

My black and white wsd went grey at about 3 years and is now completely grey around her knickers and underneath. I did wonder if it was because her dad and some of her sibligs were blue merle. She is now 7 and a half but doesn't act as old as she looks. My OH's black lab x springer is 12 and is only just starting to go grey around the muzzle!

I suppose it is like humans, some go grey young some very old...
I would not thing 5 years is young to be showing some grey on the muzzle.
My girl is coming to 2 years old and some of the litter sisters already have grey on their noses!
In my breed there is definately few lines where there seems to be dogs who go grey pretty young...

He DEF wont grow go grey gracefully LOL, he is currently suckling on his fleece blanket (aah) a habit he has had since we got him. Its interesting you say about dilute genes as his dad is brown dilute.

I am well into my 40's and not a grey hair in sight.

I've got a 4ryo blue brindle GH and she is already grey around her muzzle. One of my Lurchers is 8 and no grey hairs.
