What do members do about muddy floors ? I have an enclosed porch that leads into my kitchen. It has ceramic tiles down but gets very muddy and slippery with two dogs coming in and out (and humans who forget to take their boots off !). Apart from continually washing it, does anyone have any suggestions ?
Thankyou (sorry if this is not the right board, but I'm new)

Flash, Pledge, Dettox have all started doing large antibacterial floor wipes which I personally swear by. They're so convenient and alot quicker/less work than getting on your hands and knees trying to scrub while your dog is taking this as an invitation to play or worse :D
I have now learnt to put Taiko in the garden for 5 minutes while I do the floor cleaning!

Welcome to the forum Daisy :-)
How about covering it in a *mud* coloured carpet :D

Hi Daisy,
I bought these washable mats with the rubber backs. I bring my dogs in and make them sit on the mats for 10 mins ( Yes it is fun) but that is enough time to take most of the muck and wets off them. I wash them at night and they are dry again the next day.
I will post the link once I have went and found it.
Irene if you read this it is the same ones you have in the caravan. As this is where I saw them first.

I don't bother much as was obvious when we got a new carpet, I have never been so embarassed in my life as I was when I saw the earth under the old one. I could have gathered it and sold it as top soil!!

Hi pam, I keep looking at the 'dirt trapper' type mats (turtle?) and wondering whether to invest or not, do they do what they are supposed to do and then go in the washing machine ok? I've now got ceramic tiled flooring in kitchen and laminate through the hall and in the dogs room (dining room:D) which I have now discovered the laminate is starting to warp, due to over mopping - oops! I did try the new Dettox (I think) stuff that you squirt around and then mop up with no water, and it drys really really quickly, but fancied a couple of those mats - would you recommend them? thanks julie:)

The short answer to that Julie is YES! I have one and I swear by it. We also use one in the doorway of the dog club and the floor stayes so much dryer on wet days than before.

I put a thick old towel down for when they first come in, dosnt take it all, but does stop the worst mud being trodden in

Sounds a very good idea, Pamela - thanks . Did try putting newspaper down - but the puppy thinks that it just for her to play with :)

I taught my dog to wait for his feet to be wiped before walking through the house, he sits and waits just inside the back door with his towel in his mouth. ( only on wet days, just comes straight in when its dry outside) It has saved me loads of time washing floors, more time for champdogging, which I am not sure is a good thing :) apart from walks not getting alot done since I dicovered this site :) Sarah

Perhaps you could come and give my husband and children some lessons ! I can just see hubby waiting patiently in the porch with his towel between the teeth alongside the two dogs :) Many thanks for all the replies and the web-sites, Pam.

Hi Daisy!
Those washamats work great!! I have used them both outside and inside of the front and back doors for added protection. Saves hours of mopping!! Shirl :-)

I am in the process of reinstating flagstones...some bright spark thought they should be dug up back in the 70's & put carpet down instead!!! Now the flags are back, life is so much easier & smells better too!

If I don't catch Molly in time to late!!! Though I do have a system with her "one paw, two paw now come on the back paws now, let me dry your belly!!" Or I have to wait for the mud to dry then get out the hover! Oh how I love the paw prints! Julieann
