can anyone tell me if the shiba critique for leeds has been printed yet?
Thanks
I've just had a look on Our dogs site (I have a membership account so I can look on all the results and critiques), no Shiba Inu results and critiques yet :( its such a pain waiting for Critiques isn't it and when you get it its only usually 2 lines long :) I'll keep an eye out for you and give you a PM when they are up. Hope you had some good results at Leeds :)

Are they doing a critique for the Euro Show? as my puppy got BP snd then group 3 (in group 8), I presumed they were not doing critiques????

Maybe they aren't then i have been waiting and waiting i thought they always do critiques!!!!!
My boy got G.S and his first C.A.C.I.B plus Reserve best of breed i just thought it might have been a good critique to have in the folder!!!
Ive been checking every few days since my last post on this thread Asa, there has not been any updates on the Shiba critiques, they are taking a very long time but don't worry I haven't forgotten about you and will pm you when they do become available :) I go on there regularly so its no bother to keep an eye out. I think you may have had a lazy judge for leeds since many other breeds have got their results and crits up :D
I think you may have had a lazy judge for leeds since many other breeds have got their results and crits up :D Or maybe just a very particular judge who wants to get the wording just right. :-) Faster does not necessarily mean better, but it would be nice to get one eventually.
I've been writing one today, but it won't be ready for a little while. I like to think about phrases for a few days, what to put in and what to take out, then write it, leave it, then come back to it to see what the impact is. They're not written all that quickly, because I usually want to convey something of what I've seen, but I've also learned to be careful with how I phrase it.
Faster does not necessarily mean betterSummed up the shiba judge at Leeds certainly not one to hurry :-)

:) From my limited experience of showing many of the critiques I have had have often been only around 2 lines long often all positive and neutral statements, which is nice but it doesn't help me know the flaws in my dog or aim for something to improve. Its really nice to hear that you are taking your time writing the critiques truly reflecting your honest opinions on the dogs that you have assessed and I am sure you are not alone in the judging community. However the experience that I have had seem to be rather thrown together, like they have been written in a 'just to get them out of the way' manner. I certainly wouldn't mind waiting longer for a good honest critique. Of course I know that judges will often have to spend a fair amount of time writting critiques if they have been assessing many breed classes but surely 2 - 3 weeks should be the maximum someone should wait for one.
Mind you I am aiming to be a judge in my breed, just about to start stewarding, so maybe in a few years I would have changed my opinion when I've got to write Critiques for god knows how many dogs:D

Also unlike the critiques you get abroad the judge is limited in the length of critique the papers will print.
Also in the UK we don't take too well to our dogs faults being too publicly pointed out unlike in FCI countries where reports are written on the spot and are warts and all,(love to have those, even if it is only the first three in the class) and the dogs are graded.
So if a judge wishes their report to be a useful tool for breeders to know not only the individual strengths and failings of their dogs, but that of the bred as a whole so as to help guide breeding decisions (the whole real point of judging) it can be quite a minefield to be succinct and diplomatic ;)
In the USA I have been told they don't write critiques at all, not only would the exhibitors not take criticism well they would sue!!
