Topic Dog Boards / Showing / crufts qualifying @ crufts

Does anyone know if a dog gets 3rd in special junior at crufts whether it would qualify it for the following year? if it was just junior then it would be qualified but as its "special" does this make a difference ?
- By Goldmali Date 03.08.09 09:54 UTC
Well this year's schedule says any awards made special in any way does not count. However a FIRST in ANY class at Crufts (including any special, GC etc) will qualify. So sadly I don't think it would qualify -but it might be worth contacting the KC to ask to play safe.

The question was for a friend, its a shame really if it doesnt qualify because the only reason it is special puppy and special junior is due to ages.  I will contact the KC to clarify.  Thanks.

I contacted Cheryl Lowe and had a response within 1 hour, as i wasn't 100% sure if winning the GC Class qualified for the next year.

No one has actually read the whole of the qualification section for Crufts I think !
- By Goldmali Date 03.08.09 14:42 UTC

Moonmaiden, to go off the subject slightly - when you and others write as much as you just have, is there a way of copying from somewhere, or do you have to type every word ?
I am speaking as a total computer illiterate and have always wondered.

>is there a way of copying from somewhere

'Copy and Paste' is a marvellous facility. :-)
- By crinklecut [gb] Date 03.08.09 16:16 UTC
I've heard of copy & paste but never used it. Is that how it's done ?
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 03.08.09 16:24 UTC
Yes, it's very simple, and saves masses of typing! :-) Here's how it's done.
- By Moonmaiden Date 03.08.09 17:25 UTC
As JG has written I cut & paste if it's on the net, if it's from my reference books I have a scanner & software that allows me to copy & paste from the image ! Anything for an easy life !!

So a 2nd in a veteran class in a breed club champ show would qualify for crufts? Sorry have i read that wrong? I cant tell.
- By Moonmaiden Date 03.08.09 17:48 UTC
Yes, just as 1st to third qualifies for Crufts at any Champ show where there are CCs for CC breeds & breed classes for non CC breeds
- By mahonc Date 03.08.09 17:51 UTC
Well in that case my girl qualified for crufts last time she went out. And i didn't know about it. Should they tell you or should you just know? How would i get that confirmed?
- By SueWS [es] Date 03.08.09 18:05 UTC
Hi C
When the entry forms come out for Crufts just remember you need to state on there the show/class/etc. she qualified at.  You can always find Crufts qualification requirements online with a simple search.
Can see you are keeping busy!

I think it means only at crufts can you qualify from veteran
- By satincollie (Moderator) Date 04.08.09 08:27 UTC
No it means that even though at Crufts it is Special Veteran it is still a qualifying class as well.
- By suejaw Date 04.08.09 08:31 UTC
Some of their wording is a little jumbles imo,
just need some clarification on this.
A friend got 3rd in her breed in KCGC class for her breed where CC's were on offer at Crufts. Does this mean she has qualified for 2010?
- By Moonmaiden Date 04.08.09 09:20 UTC
No because KCGC isn't a Crufts qualifying class-apart from the winner(all class winners at Crufts qualify for the next Crufts)
