As far as I am aware this was an experimental crossbreed tried by the Guide dogs for the Blind in an attempt to produce a non moulting Guide dog. I have seen that some people have jumped on the bandwagon and are producing these crosses convincing people that they are a breed. Trouble with crosses like these is the first generation are fairly uniform, but successive generations will vary some being more like on breed some the other. In my experience Poodles and Labradors have quite different personalities and temperament, so if you go for one of these crosses you have less likelihood of being able to predict these things than in a purebred. Why don't you have a look at the CURLY COATED RETRIEVER, they are smaller in number than the well known retriever breeds, so you are more likely to be able to find a breeder that breeds for the love of the breed, as they are not commercially exploited.
