We are getting a new Boxer puppy in 2 weeks time, the breeder has said we can take her at 7 weeks old as is stated in the book of The Bitch,we have had 5 Boxers in the past we have either bred or had them from 8 weeks. Am i being the over anxious parent at having a new pup at 7 weeks.thankyou

I dont no what other breeders on here would say but all 3 of mine came to me at 7 weeks and have done fine, I did notice one was a little needy then the other 2 but they seemed fine at the time..

The only reason they left early was they had been away from their mum for a while and really independant

have fun with the new puppy

I was told that some of the free insurances are invalid on pups below 8 weeks so worth checking that out?
Enjoy your new addition :-)

although the puppy comes with 6 weeks insurance we had a problem with our Boston on one of these policies so on advice we have already insured her with a life cover policy that runs from when she is seven weeks old but thanks for the info.debby

Are they a licenced breeder? i Know under the Breeding and Sale of Dogs (Welfare) Act 1999, A keeper of a licensed breeding establishment is guilty of an offence if -- he sells a dog which is less than eight weeks old otherwise than to the keeper of a licensed pet shop or a licensed Scottish rearing establishment.

Some people let them got at 7 weeks some later and some eayler. I dont know how much it effect a pup if at all but i would prefur 8 weeks but thats just my opinion others may disagree.

I always let my large breed go just after 7 weeks -by then they don't need mum or their littermates and are very ready to go and it's easier to settle in a new home early. The Pet Plan insurance (which now is only 4 weeks) is definitely valid at 7 weeks of age.

As an experienced owner, its not a problem for pups to go to new homes at 7 weeks.. my pups go between from 7 weeks onwards.. for novice owners, I tend to wait until pups are 8 weeks.. Petplan is valid at  7 weeks

I had the same concern when I was told my dobe could leave a 7 weeks. I asked the same question some time back snd like others have said 7 weeks is ok for some breeds. My breeder said it a good time for a dobe to leave, think they mentioned the fear stage.
