I found this on ebay today....does anyone know the breed of dog involved. It would be nice to be able to get it back to the relevant breed club.

Looks like it was originally awarded by the KC itself, not a breed club.

Many of these old trophies were won outright, and do not belong to any breed club.. I still have 4 of mine from our old Chatsworth days back in the '70's

A few years ago I was shopping in my local market and bought a box of small trophies, mostly modern plasticy things for £10. In the bottom of the box which was from a house clearance was a trophy which was identical to one owned by the Flatcoated Retriever Society. It was a big silver rosebowl. I did not know it was there until having got home I emptied out the box, to see if I could use any of the other trophies for an exemption show.

The Rose Bowl trophy was engraved and had a dent in the side, so I sent it off to the people in Birmingham who can repair these things and had the engraving removed. The value of the trophy was significantly higher than the money I paid for the total box of trophies! I then had it engraved with wording of my choice and it is now with the Flatcoated Retriever Society for a Veteran class winner.
