Hi
Does anybody have any problems with their dogs not liking some breeds
of dogs!!
I touched on the subject when I posted about breeding and I recived some great
advise And because of this advise I have decided not to breed from him.
But I still have a problem with my neigbours dogs 2 mini snzchers (sorry can not spell)
and my Jake he will go for them,Teeth bared,Hair on his back is up and major growling
the strange thing is that we go to a ringcraft class and there is a standed snzcher.
When Jake see's it he reacts the same way to that dog, But not to any other dogs!!
How can I stop this!
The other problem is that in two weeks I am getting a GR puppy I am worried that Jakes
problem with my neigbours dogs will rub off on her heeeelp......

Hi there,
I had the same problem with my late dog (Jake too, funny enough), but it was Samoyed dogs he had a problem with. I don't know why but he always seemed to dislike these gentle dogs and so I avoided contact with any on our walks. As long as they didn't come sniffing around him, he didn't mind but I used to wonder if anybody else had this problem, so glad to know it wasn't just him!

Yes I have this with one of my dogs, and since he's a rescue & I don't know what happened in his first year, I don't know what triggered his dislike of GR's. He's not keen on Dalmatians either, but that was after an incident with 3 of them that ran him down and totally intimidated him. I see these dogs sometimes and quickly get mine on the lead as he will go in all guns blazing!! And if they walk too close he sets off a 'keep away from me you scary things' bark that tries to be fierce. Oh and he's not good with Boxers either! :( Still, I know my dog and which dogs to avoid so it's not too bad. Thankfully, my other dog loves everyone!

Glad to know I am not the only one with this problem!!
He does back down when other dogs show him who is boss just not with my neigbours dogs.
With the puppy should I let her meet my neigbours dogs bearing in mind that one of them is very nasty and I think he is the reason that Jake is like he is!!!!

The neigbours dogs are both male
But saying that the owner of the standed snazcher at the ringcraft has a female
as well as the male and Jake is still funny with her not the same way has the male
but his tail goes under and he starts to shake and when I am walking around the class with him he keeps looking over to her. Not sure if he thinks it is the male dog!!

I have the very same problem with my saluki, he doesnt like rotties, and huskies, he got a fright one night at training with a rottie and now he hates them, both male and female, but cant stop him from coming across these breeds, esp at shows.
