Topic Dog Boards / Behaviour / boxer needs help

hi my neighbours a few doors down have two boxers, now i hardly talk to them apart from the odd hello in passing, but today they have asked for my help with their male boxer, he is 4 years old not sure if he is entire or not, but he pulls on lead and is dog aggresive. Today the boxer attacked a small dog passing their property and the poor little dog has been taken to a vets :( now they have asked me what they should do to stop him being horrid to other dogs! Now i am no dog expert but i feel they should have socialised the dog from puppyhood and should train him on the lead to begin with so they have more control of him and he learns to respect them. Can any cd ers give me some advice on this, especially on the boxer breed and how you would help teach the dog to be social thanks :)

Have PM'd you.
I know of a trainer/behaviourist and she owns Boxers too.
She's very good.

really hope these people can get to grips with some good training/trainer. My male boxer is 9 years old and hasn't got an aggressive bone in his body but i do know other boxers that can get silly with other dogs.
This will take a lot of time and patience to sort out, there's no quick fix i'm afraid but it can usually be done with the right help.
it's such a shame because a boxer has so much energy they really benefit from being able to run round off the lead with other dogs. it's not just the dog that needs to learn but the owners as they need to be in charge of him and by the sounds of it he probably thinks he's the one in charge and has to protect them.
agree with the other post, they need to get help quick before he attacks another dog again and the owners report them for not being in control of their dog.
